Winter Games Athletes
Lee Han-bin is expected to compete in all four events at his first Olympics and will seek to become the next South Korean star at the Winter Games. Lee collected five medals during this past World Cup season and finished second in the overall standings in the 1,500 meters. He won his lone gold medal of the season in the 1,500 at a stop in Turin on Nov. 7. In the 2012-13 season, Lee collected his only three medals - all golds - as a member of 5,000-meter relay teams. He had to be carted off the ice after crashing during a 500-meter race in the final stop of that season but didn't appear to have too many ill effects. Lee finished third overall at the 2008 junior world championships after cutting his calf with a skate blade during training the previous year. Lee took up the sport in 1995 at the Bundang Olympic Center in Seongnam and didn't make his international debut at the senior level until 2012.
