Scouting Report

OVERVIEW
Johnson has the ability to play both guard positions and that has helped elevate his stock.
It also didn't hurt that he posted a record 48-inch standing vertical at the NBA draft combine.
It is that top-shelf type of athleticism that has made the 6-foot-5 Johnson a clear lottery pick.
The hope will be that his production eventually matches the skill-set.
Johnson, who turned 19 in March, averaged 11.3 points during his one season at Tennessee but he shot just 27.1 percent from 3-point range.
Part of the shooting issues stem from a hitch in his motion and Johnson said he is working on correcting it. Overall, Johnson shot 44.9 percent from the field.
Johnson's ball-handling is an issue as he had more turnovers (71) than assists (67). He sometimes gets out of control with his dribbling and he said he recognizes he needs to improve in this area.
NBA scouts feel he will be able to harness the problem early in his career and be a contributor at both guard spots.
Johnson recorded 30 steals last season and should eventually be a strong NBA defender.
ANALYSIS
Positives: Has high athleticism that makes him a potential All-Star as he develops. That stellar vertical leap will come in handy as he plays against bigger and better players. Should prove to be a top-notch defender.
Negatives: Johnson's 3-point shot will be a major focus. His shooting stroke is inconsistent and range is best described as streaky. Isn't ready to be a starter right away and needs to be brought along slowly.
