Scouting Report

OVERVIEW
The Dominican Republic native is coming off a strong season in the Pac-12, where he averaged 17.1 points on 53.2 percent shooting, including 42.4 percent shooting from deep. He also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game while blocking nearly one shot per game (0.8).
ANALYSIS
Positives: Duarte has a great build as an NBA guard with a 6-6 frame and plenty of quickness. His improvement as a shooter was clear, as he increased his shooting percentage from 41.4 percent in 2019-20 to 53.2 percent last season. He can blossom into a strong role player who can come off the bench to provide energy and 3-pointers. He also set himself apart as one of the top defenders in the conference.
Negatives: Duarte turned 23 years old in June, and if he is selected in the first round, he likely will be the oldest player taken in that group. Because of his age, it could be harder to project the same type of rapid ascent from him that scouts might project for prospects who are only 19 or 20 years old.
