Clarksville, TN (Sports Network) - Austin Peay football will play a diverse non-conference schedule in addition to its Ohio Valley Conference rivals this season.

The Governors will open the season against two FBS programs and play an NAIA school.

Their Sept. 1 opener at Western Kentucky is against a team that a year ago lost to an FCS team, Indiana State.

A week later, Austin Peay will travel to Blacksburg, Va., for a Sept. 8 matchup against Virginia Tech's nationally ranked program.

The Governors, who will play five home games, will host Culver-Stockton from the NAIA on Nov. 3.

Within the OVC, Austin Peay will host UT Martin (Sept. 22), Murray State (Oct. 6), Southeast Missouri State (Oct. 27) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 17).

The Governors will visit Tennessee State (Sept. 15), Eastern Illinois (Sept. 29), Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 13) and Jacksonville State (Nov. 10) for conference matchups.

Austin Peay is coming off a 3-8 season, including 2-6 in the OVC, under coach Rick Christophel.
