Quinn to coordinate Charleston Southern's defense
Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Charleston Southern University named former Georgia Southern assistant coach Shawn Quinn as the Buccaneers' new defensive coordinator under head coach Jay Mills, director of athletics Hank Small announced Tuesday.
Quinn spent the last two seasons as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Georgia Southern. The Eagles reached the FCS semifinals in both seasons.
Previously, Quinn had coaching experience at Northwestern State, LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette and Tennessee as well as Maryville (Tenn.) High School.
Quinn was a four-year starter on the defensive line for Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. He was an All-South Atlantic Conference honoree.
"We are very excited about the addition of Coach Quinn to the CSU football family," Mills said. "He brings a wealth of experiences and knowledge on defense as well as recruiting success to our program. His passion for the game, as well as for the student-athletes he leads, will be evident to everyone he meets."
Charleston Southern had an 0-11 record this past season, including 0-6 in the Big South Conference.
