Coe named Texas Southern offensive coordinator
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Former Alabama State head coach Charles Coe has been named Texas Southern's offensive coordinator by interim football coach Kevin Ramsey.
Coe went 29-18 in four seasons at Alabama State from 2003-06, leading the Hornets to back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game appearances in 2003-04, including a title game victory over Southern in '04.
He spent the last two seasons as head coach at Gateway Tech High School in St. Louis.
Coe left Alabama State to become the Oakland Raiders' wide receivers coach in 2007. He also had assistant coaching stints at Memphis, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Kansas State, Missouri, Louisville, Ball State, Cincinnati and Iowa.
Ramsey took over Texas Southern's program five weeks ago after Johnnie Cole, who led the Tigers to the 2010 SWAC championship, was forced out while the faces possible NCAA sanctions.
