NCAA Game Summary - UNLV at San Diego State

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego State Aztecs rushed for 275 yards as they were able to hold off the UNLV Rebels, 24-13, in a Mountain West Conference bout at Qualcomm Stadium.
Adam Muema rushed for 143 yards and Walter Kazee ran for 105 yards and a touchdown for SDSU (6-3, 4-1 MWC), which has won four in a row to become bowl eligible for the third straight season. Adam Dingwell completed 13-of-26 passes for 231 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, while Gavin Escobar led the team in receiving with four catches for 108 yards and a score.
For UNLV (1-8, 1-3), Tim Cornett was effective on the ground with 127 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Nick Sherry threw for 159 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-29 passing for the Rebels, who have lost five in a row.
UNLV struck first less than five minutes into the game on a 64-yard touchdown run from Cornett. The score remained 6-0 following a missed extra-point.
SDSU took a 7-6 lead later in the first quarter following a 12-yard touchdown pass from Dingwell to Escobar.
The Aztecs extended their lead midway through the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown rush from Kazee, and they would go into the half with a 14-6 advantage.
SDSU added to its lead after intermission when Dingwell completed a 27- yard passing touchdown to Colin Lockett with less than 10 minutes to play in the third quarter.
The Rebels halted the Aztecs' run midway through the third quarter when a 25- yard touchdown pass from Sherry to Devante Davis cut their deficit to eight, 21-13.
SDSU brought its lead back to two scores, 24-13, early in the fourth quarter following a 28-yard Chance Marden field goal. It forced the Rebels to punt on their final possession of the game before running out the clock over the last 6:55 of regulation.
The Aztecs completed 12-of-18 third downs on the game, while the Rebels converted on third down just twice in 11 attempts.
