GAME NOTES: The William & Mary Tribe return to the hardwood on Wednesday night as they host the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in Colonial Athletic Association play at Kaplan Arena.

The Tribe was in action just two nights ago when it hosted Northeastern in Williamsburg, a meeting that ended in a disappointing 68-64 setback for the home team. The loss was the second in a row and the third in four tries for a group that is now just 3-9 in league play.

As for the Seahawks, they have only one win in their last five contests, that being a 76-72 victory versus Georgia State a week ago at home. Over the weekend the team was taken down by Hofstra in their own building, 65-56, which means UNCW is now just 4-8 in league play and only slightly ahead of the Tribe in the standings.

Dating back less than 30 years, the all-time series between these two teams has been dominated by the Seahawks by a count of 40-19. The teams are set to complete their season series two weeks from now in North Carolina.

UNCW led at the half by double digits last Saturday, 12 points early in the second half, but the team saw a 24-point swing in the final 18 minutes as it bowed to visiting Hofstra. Keith Rendleman logged a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, his scoring output matched by Cedrick Williams, but the squad shot only 37.0 percent from the floor, 3-of-14 beyond the arc and 13-of-21 at the free-throw line.

As the only player to have started all 24 games for UNCW this season, it only makes sense that Rendleman is the top scorer for the group with his 15.6 ppg. The big man is averaging a double-double with his 10.3 rpg as he shoots 50.6 percent from the floor, but he has left plenty of points at the free-throw line where he is just 60.2 percent accurate. Then again, the team as a whole is shooting only 65.9 percent at the stripe, which explains why they are generating a meager 61.8 ppg and being outscored by more than seven points per contest.

Except for Matt Rum who ended up with three times as many turnovers (six) as points (two), every starter for the Tribe hit for double figures in the scoring department on Monday night, yet that still wasn't enough to get the team into the win column against a dominant Northeastern squad. Brandon Britt tallied 18 points, Tim Rusthoven came up a rebound shy of a double-double with his 14 points, followed by Marcus Thornton and Kyle Gaillard with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Playing in excess of 36 minutes per game, starting all 23 outings for the Tribe, Thornton leads the program with his 18.0 ppg thanks in large part to his 42.0 percent accuracy from 3-point range. While Thornton handles the action on the perimeter, Rusthoven (14.7 ppg) mixes it up in the paint as he pulls down almost eight rebounds per game, but that physical play has also resulted in consistent could trouble which has limited his contributions.

The Seahawks have been simply awful on the road this season and while the team is probably comparable to W&M at the moment, taking on the Tribe in Williamsburg will still be a stiff test.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: William & Mary 68, UNC Wilmington 62
