NCAA Game Summary - Oakland at Eastern Michigan

(Saturday, December 22)

Final Score: Oakland 59, Eastern Michigan 57

Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Ryan Bass buried a jumper with two seconds remaining, as the Oakland Grizzlies pulled out a 59-57 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in non-league play at the Convocation Center.

Travis Bader knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 21 points, and Corey Petros pulled down 13 rebounds to help the Grizzlies (5-8) notch only their second road win in 10 tries this season.

Jalen Ross led the way with 17 points for the Eagles (6-5), who fell at home for the first time this season. Derek Thompson added 11 points off the bench, while Daylen Harrison added 10 points and six boards in a losing effort.

The Grizzlies made only 8-of-26 field goals (.308) in the first half, but they also limited EMU to 9-of-23 (.391) shooting and took a 29-21 lead into the break.

OU led by as many as 14 early in the second stanza and still led by double digits with just under 10 minutes to play. However, EMU went on a 15-3 run to take their first lead of the game, 52-50, with 2:25 remaining. The Grizzlies were leading 57-56 when OU's J.R. Sims notched a steal and was fouled with 16 seconds on the clock. After missing the first free throw, Sims made the second to knot the score at 57-57. But the Eagles left just enough time for Bass' late-game heroics.

Oakland shook off a 31.5-percent shooting effort from the field and a 58- percent showing at the charity stripe to claim the victory.
