Nishikori cruises past Lopez to win Memphis final

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Japan's Kei Nishikori rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Feliciano Lopez of Spain in the final at the $1.212 million U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships.

The fifth-seeded world No. 22 Nishikori needed just a little over 67 minutes to dispatch Lopez at The Racquet Club of Memphis.

"I'm very happy with the way I played today," said Nishikori. "To win this title is an amazing feeling. I tried to concentrate on all the important points. I served really well this week. I was practicing a lot and it's getting better. Hopefully I can win a couple more titles. It's been a good start to the year."

Nishikori saved all four of his break points to move to 3-2 in finals, while Lopez fell to 2-6 in title matches.

"I didn't play a bad match," said Lopez. "He was very aggressive from the beginning. I think he probably played his best. I have no regrets. I tried everything I could and he was just the better player today. I hope to keep playing like I did this week."

Nishikori took home $291,800 in the win.
