Starkville, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Roquez Johnson came off the bench for a double-double, helping the Mississippi State Bulldogs to a 65-64 overtime win against the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers at Humphrey Coliseum.

Johnson notched 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (5-1), shooting 6- of-10 from the field and 8-of-12 at the free-throw line. Craig Sword tallied a game-high 24 points on 8-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-10 at the stripe.

Milton Doyle led the Ramblers (3-5) with 22 points on 7-of-13 from the field and 6-of-8 at the line. Christian Thomas added 12 points and nine rebounds. Devon Turk came off the bench for another 10 points.

There was not much to divide the teams at halftime, when they were knotted at 29 apiece. The Ramblers shot 50 percent from the field, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range. The Bulldogs shot only 37.5 percent from the field, but made up for it by hitting 10-of-12 at the line.

The two teams matched each other again in the second half, the Bulldogs this time shooting 58.8 percent from the floor. The Ramblers connected on only 36 percent from the field, but they knocked down one more 3-pointer and free throw than their opponent. A Doyle long-distance jumper with 1:09 left tied the game at 56-56 and was the last scoring play in regulation.

Sword converted on a three-point play with 1:41 remaining in overtime to pull the Bulldogs ahead 64-62 and give them a lead they would not relinquish. Doyle was unable to hit another clutch three as time expired.

Mississippi State shot 46.8 percent for the contest, just slightly better than a 42.6 percent mark by Loyola-Chicago. The lead changed on 20 different occasions in the tightly contested game.
