Butte Daredevils newest team in CBA

Albany, NY (Sports Network) - The Continental Basketball Association announced on Wednesday that the Butte Daredevils will be the newest franchise to join the league.

Apex Sportstainment will be operating the new franchise, along with its other expansion team, the San Jose Skyrockets. The Daredevils get their name in honor of a famous Butte daredevil, Evel Knievel.

The franchise will play its home games in the Butte Civic Center.

"We're proud to announce our expansion team in Butte," said Joe Clark, managing partner for Apex. "With the support of the people of Butte and the surrounding communities we hope to grow into a very successful franchise and bring home many CBA championships to Butte."

The Daredevils and Skyrockets will both play in the upcoming 2006-07 season.

The CBA completed its 60th anniversary season on March 27 when the Yakama Sun Kings defeated the Gary Steelheads in a best-of-three championship series.
