Rick George leaving Texas Rangers, becoming Colorado AD
Boulder, CO (Sports Network) - The University of Colorado hired Rick George as the school's athletic director on Wednesday.
George will begin his second stint with the university on Aug. 12. He has been the president of business operations for the Texas Rangers major league baseball team.
"I am delighted that Rick has accepted our offer to lead our athletic department," chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said in a statement. "Rick's financial and management acumen, his networking and relationship development skills, and his enthusiasm, work ethic and principled leadership all make him the ideal leader for CU athletics at this important and challenging moment in our history."
George served as Colorado's assistant athletic director for football operations from 1987-91. He will take over for Mike Bohn, whose resignation was accepted by the university in May.
