Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis played well in his return to the crease Sunday against Tampa Bay and he'll get another start Tuesday versus the Islanders.
Insight: Prior to Sunday, Ellis hadn't played since April 8. He has a 3.11 GAA and .906 SV% this season, so he's a shaky option over the final few games.

4/2/2013 2:55:00 PM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis appears to be ready to step in front of the nets for Tuesday's game with Montreal.
Insight: Ellis last played March 21. He's 4-5-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .918 save percentage. The Hurricanes really miss Cam Ward (sprained MCL).

3/22/2013 9:45:00 AM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis left in the third period of Thursday's game against New Jersey with a laceration on the leg.
Insight: Ellis could miss a game with the injury, but it doesn't appear to be a long-term problem. He's 4-5-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .918 save percentage. Justin Peters would likely get the start since Cam Ward is not due back from his MCL injury until April.

3/19/2013 6:05:00 PM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis will get the start Tuesday against the Panthers.
Insight: Ellis has a stellar .924 SV% this season and should get most of Carolina's starts with Cam Ward out until April with a sprained MCL.

3/14/2013 4:27:00 PM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis will get the start Thursday against Washington.
Insight: Ellis has a 3.88 GAA over his last five appearances after giving up two goals combined over his first three and backup Justin Peters just shut out these same Capitals on the road Tuesday. We could see an even split going forward as Carolina tries to piece things together after Cam Ward's injury.

3/9/2013 10:45:00 AM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis is probable for Saturday's game against New Jersey after getting over the flu.
Insight: Ellis has played well in his limited opportunities this season, but with Cam Ward sidelined, is going to get a lot more work. He's 3-2 with a 2.53 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

2/22/2013 4:20:00 PM
Description: Carolina backup goaltender Dan Ellis will start for Cam Ward Saturday night. No injury for starter Cam Ward, just his backup getting some playing time.
Insight: Ellis has played very well in his limited opportunities this season, going 3-1 with a 1.74 GAA and a .943 save percentage.

2/14/2013 1:19:00 PM
Description: Carolina backup goaltender Dan Ellis will stand in for starter Cam Ward Thursday night against the Maple Leafs.
Insight: Ellis shut out Ottawa on Feb. 1 but gave up four goals to Philadelphia the next night and hasn't played since. Ward has improved his play and is 4-0-1 with a 2.57 GAA in his last five starts.

2/1/2013 10:32:00 PM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis blanked Ottawa on 33 shots Friday night.
Insight: We could be seeing the makings of a goaltender controversy in Carolina. Ellis is 2-0 with a 0.75 GAA and .977 SV% in 160 minutes over three appearances. Meanwhile, Cam Ward is 1-3 with a 4.51 GAA.

2/1/2013 5:07:00 PM
Description: Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis will get his second start of the season Friday against the Senators.
Insight: Cam Ward has had a nightmare start with a 4.51 GAA in four games. Ellis has only given up two goals in 100 minutes and could see more time if Ward continues to slump.

4/14/2011 1:15:00 AM
Description: Dan Ellis was pulled during Game 1 against Nashville on Wednesday after allowing four goals on 24 shots. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Ray Emery was able to take over in the Ducks' net for the rest of the game. Ellis could not get the job done against his former team, so Ducks coach Randy Carlyle may opt for Emery in Game 2.

4/13/2011 2:03:00 PM
Description: Dan Ellis is the probable starter for the Ducks for Game 1 against Nashville on Wednesday, as he was the first goalie off the ice during the morning skate. Orange County Register
Insight: Both Jonas Hiller and Ray Emery are still dealing with injuries, so Ellis appears to be the go-to guy in net for now. Ellis played well in helping the Ducks secure a favorable playoff position over the final weekend, so he is a possibility in playoff pools until he struggles and one of the other goalies returns to health.

4/10/2011 1:35:00 AM
Description: Dan Ellis made 43 saves in the Ducks' 3-1 win over Los Angeles on Saturday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Ellis, who is filling in for injured goalies Jonas Hiller and Ray Emery, has allowed just two goals in his past two games - both Ducks wins on back-to-back nights against the Kings. Despite not clinching a playoff spot until Friday, the Ducks have jumped to the number four seed in the West and will have home-ice advantage in their first-round playoff series.

2/28/2011 12:05:00 PM
Description: Ellis earned his first win as a Duck Sunday, allowing two goals to the Avalanche.
Insight: Ellis allowed three in his previous Anaheim outing but has featured an improved GAA over his past six appearances. That stretch dates back to his time before the trade from Tampa. Jonas Hiller's illness will keep Ellis on the ice for at least a few more games. (RapidDraft.com)

2/24/2011 1:01:00 PM
Description: The Ducks picked up Dan Ellis from the Lightning on Thursday.
Insight: Ellis will help fill a need for Anaheim while Jonas Hiller deals with what they now believe may be vertigo. Ellis sports a decent 2.93 GAA for the season. (RapidDraft.com)

2/20/2011 1:05:00 AM
Description: Ellis allowed just two goals to the Panthers Saturday but took the shootout loss.
Insight: Ellis was filling in on a night off for Dwayne Roloson, but it was the third time in four appearances that Ellis has allowed two goals or fewer. He also has six such games over his past 11 -- with just two of more than three allowed -- which makes it fair to wonder whether Ellis should get more time in the crease with Roloson sputtering lately. (RapidDraft.com)

1/22/2011 1:00:00 AM
Description: Ellis saved 29 of 30 shots Friday night to help his team to a shootout victory.
Insight: Ellis sports a save percentage and goals against average significantly worse than those of Dwayne Roloson for the season, but he sits five games over .500 while Roloson lingers five games below. (RapidDraft.com)

1/10/2011 4:02:00 PM
Description: Ellis denied just 20 of 24 shots in Sunday's loss to the Devils.
Insight: It was the second time in three games that Ellis allowed four goals and the fourth time in five outings that he allowed three or more. (RapidDraft.com)

12/27/2010 3:05:00 PM
Description: Ellis made 26 saves in a 3-2 OT win over Atlanta on Sunday.
Insight: Ellis has won four of his last five starts as he is now 11-5-5 with a 2.98 GAA. (RapidDraft.com)

12/24/2010 8:05:00 AM
Description: Ellis made 34 saves in a 4-3 shootout win over the Rangers on Thursday night.
Insight: Ellis improved to 10-5-5 with a 3.03 GAA on the year. (RapidDraft.com)
