Insight: The 24-year-old has nine goals, 36 points, 64 PIM, 172 SOG and a +17 rating in 74 games, so he's been a solid fantasy option on the blue line.

11/28/2013 12:23:00 PM
Description: Kings defenseman Drew Doughty scored his first goal since Oct. 30 Wednesday at San Jose.
Insight: Doughty found the net on just six of his 114 SOG (.053) in 48 games last season, but he already has five goals on 68 SOG (.074) in 26 games this season.

Description: Kings defenseman Drew Doughty scored a goal in Los Angeles' season opener Thursday against Minnesota.

4/6/2013 6:54:00 PM
Description: Kings defenseman Drew Doughty scored his second goal of the season Saturday against Edmonton.
Insight: It has been a lackluster season for Doughty, as he didn't score his first goal until March 19. He has also had to work hard to get his plus/minus out of the red after he started out with a -10 over his first 10 games, but he is now a +2 for the season.

11/23/2011 6:27:00 PM
Description: Drew Doughty was fined $2500 for a cross-check on T.J. Oshie during Tuesday's game. TSN
Insight: Brendan Shanahan obviously felt that a two-minute cross-checking penalty was enough on the play, which Blues fans and many others who observed the incident will disagree with. At least Doughty owners don't have to worry about sitting him out.

10/29/2011 4:43:00 PM
Description: Drew Doughty is expected to return to the Kings' lineup for Saturday's game against Phoenix after missing the past two weeks with a shoulder injury. ESPN

9/30/2011 12:09:00 AM
Description: According to Bob McKenzie of TSN, the Los Angeles Kings and Drew Doughty have reached a verbal agreement on an eight-year, $56 million contract. TSN
Insight: The Kings seemed to be stuck on not paying Doughty $7 million, but they finally appeared to give in. Doughty's holdout is now over, so fantasy owners who haven't drafted yet can pick him where they normally would. Although he scored just 11 goals and 40 points last season, Doughty has the potential to be a top-5 scoring fantasy defenseman.

9/17/2011 12:58:00 AM
Description: According to LA Kings Insider, the Kings plan to reduce Drew Doughty's pay by $25,000 for every day he misses training camp. TSN
Insight: Either Doughty will report to camp quickly and give in to the club's contract demands, or this situation could turn ugly very quickly. Unless Doughty signs a contract soon, this potential holdout could start to cut into his short-term fantasy value.

9/15/2011 3:12:00 PM
Description: According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the Los Angeles Kings will not pay Drew Doughty more than $6.8 million per season, the amount that Anze Kopitar's contract averages out to. TSN
Insight: Doughty is believed to be looking for at least $7 million, so this is now a question of which party will give in. Even though the gap seems relatively small, fantasy owners need to keep an eye on Doughty's contract status in case he misses part or all of training camp and perhaps even the start of the season.

8/17/2011 11:45:00 PM

Description: Drew Doughty scored two goals and added two assists with a +2 in the Kings' 4-0 win over San Jose in Game 2 on Saturday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Doughty's production fell by 19 points this season from last season, so perhaps expectations weren't as high for him entering the playoffs. Keep in mind that he was a star for the Kings during last season's playoffs, scoring seven points (3g-4a) in the six-game loss against Vancouver.

2/4/2011 12:21:00 AM

Insight: What this means is that Doughty scored two goals in the game, while Smyth only scored one. The game was played in Edmonton, where Smyth is still a very popular player. With the two goals, Doughty is up to just six this season after scoring 16 as a Norris Trophy finalist last season.
