Final Score: Winnipeg 3, Nashville 1
Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Ondrej Pavelec turned away 39 shots to backstop the surging Winnipeg Jets to a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators.
Olli Jokinen, Andrew Ladd and Devin Setoguchi each scored for the Jets, who are now 11-3-1 since Paul Maurice took over as head coach.
"If he could see it (the puck) for the most part he had it," Maurice said of Pavelec. "He was our best player tonight."
Simon Moser's first NHL goal summed up the Predators' offense, while Carter Hutton gave up three goals on 20 shots in defeat. Nashville has dropped four of its last five games.
"They capitalized on a couple chances that they had and we didn't," said Predators head coach Barry Trotz. "At the end of the day, our game was pretty good in a lot of areas."
Winnipeg got second-period goals from Jokinen and Ladd before Moser's tip put the Predators on the board at the 9:11 mark of the third period.
Setoguchi restored the Jets' two-goal advantage with 3:52 remaining. Blake Wheeler helped set up the goal, blazing down the left wing. Hutton made a pad stop on Wheeler, but Setoguchi knocked in the rebound.
After a scoreless first period, Jokinen beat Hutton high on the right side on a shot from the left circle at 5:02 of the second.
Ladd made it 2-0 when he got his stick on Zach Bogosian's shot and redirected it past Hutton with 1:42 remaining.
The loss snapped the Predators' four-game home winning streak against the Winnipeg-Atlanta franchise ... Nashville was 0-for-6 on the power play.
