Final Score: Ottawa 4, Buffalo 3 (OT)
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Kyle Turris notched the game-winner on a power play, his second of the contest, with 1:06 left in overtime, as the Ottawa Senators rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
Turris chased down a dump-in along the left-wing boards and fed back to Daniel Aldfredsson, who dished back to the winger for a shot placed under the crossbar from a sharp angle in the circle.
"It was just one of those bang-bang plays that worked out to our advantage," said Turris. "Nice to get the two points here because we need them."
Chris Phillips and Patrick Wiercioch tallied and Ben Bishop made 33 saves for the Senators, who won for the second time in their last eight outings.
Drew Stafford scored twice and Mike Weber once for the Sabres, who have lost five of six.
Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots in the setback.
"When we were playing with urgency and determination we had a good third period, it's just too bad," said Miller. "I need to be a little bit better and not give them the lead, but they caught a couple of bounces there."
Weber opened the scoring prior to the nine-minute mark of the first when his low shot from the point sailed through traffic and into the back of the net, then Stafford made it 2-0 at 15:16 when he deposited a Nathan Gerbe rebound from inside the crease.
Miller made four big saves in a short sequence with three minutes played in the second period, but the Senators finally broke through at 4:03 on a blast from Wiercioch from the bottom of the left circle.
Phillips' shot from the left point from a faceoff win tied the game just after the midway point of the second and Turris put Ottawa ahead with 1:03 before intermission on a wraparound.
Buffalo tied the game with 7:54 remaining as Stafford's floater from the left boards deflected off a Sens player and got by Bishop.
Turris added an assist for a season-high three points, the first time he's recorded as many since a four-point effort (2G, 2A) in a 5-1 win over the Islanders on Apr. 1, 2012 ... Sabres forward Ville Leino played in his first game of the season and assisted on Weber's tally ... Ottawa extended its streak of consecutive games decided by one goal to 11 ... Stafford posted his first multi-goal performance since Mar. 27, 2012 at Washington.
