Coyotes update status of MacLean
Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes released a statement Monday, updating the status of forward Brett MacLean.
"We have been in contact with Brett's family and the hospital over the past week and the reports are that he is doing well and his condition is improving," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney. "Brett will continue to undergo tests with the cardiology team at University Hospital in London, Ontario."
MacLean was playing hockey in Owen Sound, Ontario one week ago when he suffered a cardiac emergency. He was ultimately air-lifted to Knight University Hospital and admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit.
The 23-year-old MacLean, a second-round draft choice of the Coyotes in 2007, had two assists in five games for Winnipeg last season, from October 9-20. He was then claimed off waivers by Phoenix and sent to the AHL's Portland Pirates, collecting 25 goals and 23 assists.
