Canucks agree to deal with G Schneider
Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks and goaltender Cory Schneider agreed to terms on a new contract on Thursday.
Vancouver general manager Mike Gillis announced the deal on his Twitter account and said that more details will be released in the next few days. Several media web sites are reporting that the deal is for three years and $12 million.
Schneider first appeared in the NHL during the 2008-09 season and has spent his career as a backup to Roberto Luongo.
Last season, he appeared in 33 games and went 20-8-1 with three shutouts along with a 1.96 goals against average.
Also, he played the final three games of Vancouver's first-round defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings, going 1-2 with a 1.31 GAA.
The 26-year-old is 38-17-4 with four shutouts and a 2.24 GAA over 68 games in his career.
