Blackhawks bring back Versteeg in trade with Panthers
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forwards Kris Versteeg and Phillippe Lefebrve from the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Chicago got back Versteeg, who was a member of the 2010 Stanley Cup-winning team, along with the minor leaguer Lefebrve, for forward Jimmy Hayes and defenseman Dylan Olsen.
"We are excited to bring Kris back to Chicago and are pleased to add a player with his experience and versatility to our lineup" said Chicago general manager Stan Bowman. "Kris is well-respected within our organization and will be able to make a seamless transition to our team because of his familiarity with many of our players and with coach [Joel] Quenneville. This move strengthens our team depth, and Kris' skill is a great complement to our current roster."
Versteeg, 27, had two goals and five assists over 18 games with the Panthers this season, and has totaled 92 goals and 120 assists over 349 games and seven seasons with Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia and Florida.
During Chicago's Cup championship in 2010, he posted six goals and eight assists in the postseason.
Hayes, a second-round pick in 2006, has six goals and seven assists over 43 games in parts of three seasons with Chicago, while Olsen, a first-round pick in 2009, had one assist in 28 games during the 2011-12 season.
