Blackhawks reward Crawford with six-year extension
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks have locked up goaltender Corey Crawford through the 2019-20 season.
Financial terms of the six-year extension were not disclosed.
The Blackhawks announced the new deal on Crawford's day with the Stanley Cup. He earned all 16 postseason wins last spring to go along with a stellar 1.84 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage as the Blackhawks won the Cup for the second time in four seasons.
Crawford is entering the final season of a three-year deal he signed in May 2011.
The 28-year-old Montreal native had a record of 19-5-5 with a 1.94 GAA and three shutouts in 30 regular-season games during the truncated 2013 campaign. He ranked third in the league in GAA.
Crawford, selected by the Blackhawks with the 52nd pick of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, has an overall mark of 83-43-19 with a 2.40 GAA and eight shutouts in 152 NHL games.
