Description: Running back Joseph Addai was cut by the Patriots Wednesday after quitting in the middle of conditioning drills.
Insight: As coach Bill Belichick said, "It didn't work out." Addai wasn't going to get much playing time behind Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen so even if he had passed his conditioning test, there was a good chance Addai was going to get cut anyway. Addai has been unproductive the last two seasons (928 rushing yards combined) and it looks like he might be nearing the end of his career.

5/5/2012 8:07:00 PM
Description: Joseph Addai has reportedly agreed to a deal with the New England Patriots.
Insight: This might have been big news five years ago but Addai hasn't had a 1,000-yard rushing season since 2007 and the Patriots run the ball about as infrequently as anyone in the league. Don't expect Addai to return to the fantasy radar in 2012.

4/20/2012 6:50:00 PM
Description: New England hosted free agent running backs Joseph Addai, Ryan Grant andTim Hightower at their team headquarters on Friday.
Insight: Addai (433 yards, 1 TD), Grant (559 yards, 2 TDs) and Hightower (321 yards, 1 TD) all struggled with injuries in 2011 but have been productive in the past. The Patriots current backfield consists of Stevan Ridley (441 yards, 1 TD) and Danny Woodhead (351 yards, 1 TD). The Patriots top back from a season ago, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, signed with the Bengals this offseason.

Insight: Addai reinjured the hammy in the blowout loss to New Orleans and his chances of playing this week are looking pretty slim. Look for another committee backfield with Donald Brown and Delone Carter against the Titans.

Description: The Indianapolis Star considers Joseph Addai (questionable, hamstring) likely to play on Sunday Night Football against the Saints. Source: Indianapolis Star
Insight: Addai put in a practice on Friday which leads to assume that he'll give it a go on Sunday. Unfortunately, Donald Brown and Delone Carter would be risky fantasy plays this week.

Description: Joseph Addai (hamstring) will not participate in Colts practice Wednesday. Source: Phillip B. Wilson via Twitter
Insight: Addai still isn't 100 percent, but it doesn't appear that the injury isn't too severe, but there's not too much to play for at this point. Look for another split between Delone Carter and Donald Brown this week.

Insight: Rookie Delone Carter and 2009 first-round pick Donald Brown will handle the load.

Description: Joseph Addai (hamstring) concedes that he's a "long shot" to play Sunday against the Bengals. Source: Phillip Watson via Twitter
Insight: The signs are showing doubtful for Joseph Addai to play this week, so it looks like Delone Carter and Donald Brown will be sharing carries against the Bengals in week 6.

Description: RB Joseph Addai's durability issues, paired with the Colts' greater needs at safety and in re-signing QB Peyton Manning, could mean they are prepared to let Addai walk. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY
Insight: There's obviously a reason the Colts drafted another running back (Delone Carter) in this year's draft. If they could re-sign him at a favorable price they'd jump at the chance because he's become a great blocker and pass-catcher. If this happens, Carter and Donald Brown will fight it out for the starting job.

Description: According to the Indianapolis Star's Mike Chappell, it's "imperative" for the Colts to re-sign free agent RB Joseph Addai. SOURCE: INDIANAPOLIS STAR
Insight: Addai is decent at everything, but nothing about his game really sticks out. This could either be his own doing or simply because Peyton Manning runs the offense. As a free agent, we aren't sure a team will give him the big bucks to be an every-down back. He has been hit with the injury bug lately and doesn't really have the stats to back up his wanting a full-time gig somewhere else. Since Donald Brown showed nothing that would make us or the team believe he can take over in 2011, expect both sides to agree on a deal that will make both parties happy. Indy certainly missed Addai in those eight games he was out with a shoulder injury.

1/4/2011 10:05:00 AM
Description: Addai finished his injury-gutted 2010 with the fewest carries of his five-year career but also the best rushing average since his rookie season.
Insight: Addai missed the heart of the fantasy schedule with a nerve injury in his shoulder/neck area but didn't see anyone step forward to challenge his position while he was out. Addai is in line for free agency, so it'll be interesting to see if the Colts keep him around or take a chance with Donald Brown & co. going forward. (RapidDraft.com)

12/25/2010 9:02:00 PM
Description: Addai, a full practice participant all week, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Oakland.
Insight: The matchup is favorable, and Addai is expected to return. He's a total gamble, however, in his first game back since Week 6. (RapidDraft.com)

12/23/2010 12:04:00 AM
Description: Addai fully participated in practice Wednesday for the first time since mid-October. He has been out since Week 6 because of a neck injury that caused hand numbness.
Insight: Addai figures to be the team's best backfield option as soon as he returns, but the length of the layoff makes it impossible for us to know what we might expect from him. At best, Addai will be a huge Week 16 risk in fantasy. (RapidDraft.com)

12/19/2010 8:01:00 AM
Description: Addai participated in limited practice throughout the week and is again listed as questionable for Week 15. Philip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Start reports that the back is unlikely to play, though.
Insight: Fantasy owners can't re-insert Addai until he makes it through a game, which basically ends his 2010 run with only one week left on most fantasy schedules. (RapidDraft.com)

12/16/2010 12:05:00 AM
Description: Addai started another week as a limited practice participant, which he has been doing for a while now.
Insight: At first, it seemed a sign that he was nearing a return. Now, it seems that fantasy owners will have to wait for him to play a game before considering him ... those who haven't already forgotten about Addai for 2010, that is. (RapidDraft.com)

12/9/2010 11:02:00 AM
Description: Addai appeared to be nearing a return, but he will miss his seventh straight game in Week 14.
Insight: Each passing week makes Addai less worthy of a fantasy roster spot. The lack of any other decent Colts option, however, means he could return to relevance immediately when/if he gets back on the field this year. (RapidDraft.com)

12/1/2010 3:43:00 PM
Description: There is still no official timetable for Colts RB Joseph Addai's return from a neck/shoulder issue. SOURCE: NFL.FANHOUSE.COM
Insight: Addai is practicing for "conditioning purposes," but still has yet to go all out because of nerve damage. Right now, it looks like Addai won't be playing against the Cowboys, but we should know more by the end of the week.

11/27/2010 10:05:00 PM
Description: Addai is doubtful once again in Week 12 because of the shoulder injury that has cost him the past four games.
Insight: We keep getting teased with the expectation that Addai is nearing return. Until he finally does get back, though, Colts backs don't warrant much fantasy interest. (RapidDraft.com)

11/23/2010 2:43:00 PM
Description: When asked about his neck injury, Colts RB Joseph Addai simply stated "day by day." SOURCE: INDIANAPOLIS STAR
Insight: Addai figures to be questionable leading up to the Sunday night game against the Chargers. He's been out the last four games.

11/20/2010 10:04:00 PM
Description: Addai was downgraded to out on Saturday. It'll be the fourth straight game he has missed.
Insight: Addai seemed closer to playing this week, so perhaps his shoulder will be well enough for a Week 12 return. He should reclaim the top spot in the backfield immediately upon his return. (RapidDraft.com)
