NFL Preseason Preview - Indianapolis (0-1) at NY Giants (1-0)

By John McMullen, NFL Editor

(Sports Network) - Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts will be searching for their first preseason win in the shadow of Manhattan on Sunday when they take on the New York Giants.

Buffalo third-string signal caller Jeff Tuel tossed a pair of touchdown passes, part of a 19-of-23, 212-yard effort, in Buffalo's 44-20 demolition of Indianapolis in the exhibition opener for both of those clubs last Sunday.

Luck finished 4-of-6 for 51 yards, while Chandler Harnish completed 14- of-33 passes for 109 yards and an interception for the Colts.

T.Y. Hilton snagged three balls for 61 yards, including a 45-yard score from Matt Hasselbeck, and Dax Swanson returned a fumble 72 yards for a touchdown.

"What a wonderful ball to T.Y." Luck said. "You can tell that Matt knows football. He's been a great addition."

Already without Dwayne Allen because of a foot injury the Colts were in danger of losing another tight end when Coby Fleener was diagnosed with a concussion following the game against the Bills. Fleener, however, was able to practice by Wednesday and is on track to play against New York.

For the Giants, Victor Cruz hauled in a 57-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning in New York's 18-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The former undrafted free-agent Cruz, who led the Giants in receptions (86), receiving yards (1,092) and touchdown grabs (10) in 2012, signed a five-year contract extension during the offseason.

Manning was 2-of-5 for 73 yards for the Giants, whose 9-7 mark a year ago wasn't good enough to make the postseason. David Wilson carried the ball five times for 16 yards in the triumph.

"Good and bad," Manning said when talking about his performance in the opener. "Hit a couple nice throws. Sometimes the first game you just have to get back to knowing the defense can hit you now."

Giants Rookie defensive end Damontre Moore made a positive impression in his first game for New York as he blocked a punt and registered four tackles.

"Moore obviously was a problem for Pittsburgh," said Giants coach Tom Coughlin. "He keeps coming and he likes it."

On the injury front for New York, wide receiver Kris Adams was lost for the foreseeable future when he suffered a fractured leg early in the second half against the Steelers

The Giants also got quite a scare in practice early this week when safety Antrel Rolle was carted off the field after getting tangled up with tight end Bear Pascoe.

Luckily Rolle was diagnosed with a sprained ankle and hopes to be back for the Giants' season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 8.

"I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure (missing Week 1) is not even a possibility," Rolle told the New York Post. "Treatment two times, three times, four times a day, whatever it takes, I am going to do it."
