Titans QB Locker to miss rest of season

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker suffered a right foot injury in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Jaguars and will miss the remainder of the season.

Locker has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury, the team confirmed Monday. The third-year quarterback limped to the sideline after taking a hard hit during the second quarter of Sunday's clash with Jacksonville.

"I don't know exactly how it happened, but when I got up from that run I could feel it," Locker said on Sunday. "It's tough. You want to be on the football field with your teammates."

Locker had thrown for 1,256 yards and eight touchdowns this season while completing 60.7 percent of his passes. He also ran for 155 yards with a pair of scores. Locker previously missed two games in October with a hip injury he suffered in a Sept. 29 win over the Jets.

Ryan Fitzpatrick took over at quarterback against the Jaguars and completed 22-of-33 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns. The eight-year veteran has thrown 96 touchdowns in his career, and is expected to start for Tennessee for the rest of the season. Rusty Smith will back him up.

"A lot of times your character is tested through adversity," said Locker, "and it's up to you to deal with it in the most positive way for yourself and your football team."
