Denver QB Manning named Comeback Player of the Year New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year Saturday, as voted by the Associated Press. Manning, who received 31 1/2 votes to easily outdistance Minnesota Vikings running back and 2012 NFL MVP Adrian Peterson (17 1/2), completed 400-of-583 passes for 4,659 yards with 37 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions. It was his first season in a Denver uniform after sitting out the 2011 season with neck problems. Manning underwent four surgical procedures on his neck. Manning led the Broncos to a 13-3 mark and into the playoffs after completing a league-best 68.6 percent of his passes. Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (1) was third in the voting. 02/02 21:09:03 ET |
