Ex-Giant Hill joins AFL's Rattlers

Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - After being cut loose by the New York Giants for a string of drug-related offenses, Will Hill will try his hand in the Arena Football League next season.

The Arizona Rattlers announced Friday that they have signed the problematic safety, less than a week after he was released by the Giants following a third NFL-issued suspension in three seasons.

Hill emerged as a starter in New York's secondary in 2013 and recorded career bests of 77 tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown in a late-year win at Detroit. He played in 12 games last season, sitting out the first four for violating the NFL's policy on substances of abuse.

The 24-year-old was handed a six-game ban to begin the 2014 campaign for a similar violation last week, prompting the Giants to place Hill on waivers Monday.

Hill was also forced to sit out the first four games of the 2012 season after testing positive for Adderall.

The University of Florida product also had off-field issues during his collegiate career which caused him not to be taken in the 2011 NFL Draft. Hill signed with the Giants the following offseason.
