Description: Philadelphia blueliner Andreas Lilja is expected to miss four months after undergoing surgery on his left hip last week.
Insight: Occasionally Lilja will carry an impressive plus/minus rating but his scoring touch has been nonexistent in recent seasons (zero goals, six assists in 46 games last season). He should be ignored in fantasy when he returns to the ice in December.

Description: The Anaheim Ducks have officially moved Andreas Lilja to the active roster and demoted Luca Sbisa to the AHL. TSN
Insight: Lilja was signed on Monday, but he could not play for the Ducks right away because of visa issues. Sbisa has a bright future as an NHL defenseman, but it was clear during the Ducks' early struggles that he wasn't quite ready for the NHL.

Description: The Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Andreas Lilja to a one-year, $600,000 contract. TSN
Insight: The Ducks need defensemen badly, so the veteran Lilja will provide some much-needed veteran help. He won't provide anything for fantasy teams, though.

Description: Andreas Lilja will not be offered a contract by the San Jose Sharks. TSN
Insight: The former Red Wings defenseman was attending Sharks' camp on a tryout basis. Even if he finds a home this season, he has virtually no fantasy value.

Description: Andreas Lilja has been invited to the San Jose Sharks' training camp. NHL.com
Insight: Lilja played in just 20 games for the Red Wings last season after suffering a concussion. He has a shot of making the Sharks out of camp, but he won't add much to fantasy teams (just three points last season).

Description: Andreas Lilja gets a professional tryout from the San Jose Sharks.
Insight: After waiting all offseason for an offer from the Red Wings, Lilja has accepted an offer to tryout with the Sharks. Expect him to battle for the 6th and 7th spot. (RapidDraft.com)
