Description: The Vancouver Sun reports that Canucks center Manny Malhotra will miss the rest of the season because of vision problems.
Insight: Malhotra took a puck to the eye two years ago and has never fully recovered. It's unlikely that Malholtra (zero points in nine games this season) will ever be able to resurrect his fantasy career.

2/13/2013 11:10:00 AM
Description: Vancouver center Manny Malhotra is questionable for Friday's game against Dallas due to personal reasons.
Insight: Malhotra absence has allowed highly-regarded prospect Jordan Schroeder to get on the ice and he's thrived in the opportunity with two goals, two assists and a +5 rating.

Description: Manny Malhotra made his return to the Canucks' lineup in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday. ESPN
Insight: Malhotra has missed over two months with a serious eye injury that the Canucks originally said would keep him out of the lineup for the duration of the playoffs. Sporting a full face shield, Malhotra's role is to take key faceoffs on the Canucks' fourth line.

Description: Manny Malhotra returned to Canucks' practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday. TSN
Insight: Malhotra did not attend Tuesday's practice as he underwent another procedure on his eye, fueling speculation that he suffered a setback. However, his participation at Friday's practice means that he could be close to returning. Consider him a game-day decision for Game 2.

Description: Updating an earlier report, Manny Malhotra has not been cleared to play, although he can still participate fully in practice. Vancouver Province
Insight: Malhotra missed Tuesday's practice so that he could get his injured eye checked. The Canucks stated earlier that Malhotra was cleared to play, so he may have suffered a setback despite the team saying otherwise. Jeff Tambellini, Victor Oreskovich, and Alex Bolduc are expected to play on the Canucks' fourth line for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday, so don't expect Malhotra to be in the lineup.

Description: Manny Malhotra has been cleared to play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against Boston on Wednesday. TSN
Insight: Canucks coach Alain Vigneault did not say whether Malhotra would play in Game 1, just that he is an option if the Canucks decide to use him. The fact that Malhotra is even in the discussion about playing is a miracle in itself, as the Canucks announced before the playoffs that he would not play at all during the playoffs.

5/27/2011 1:43:00 PM
Description: Manny Malhotra has been cleared by doctors to fully participate in practice, including taking contact. TSN
Insight: The fact that Malhotra is at this point is amazing, considering the state of his left eye following his injury over two months ago. There is a chance that he could play in the Stanley Cup Final, although the Canucks seem to have no need to rush him back. His ability to take faceoffs could be compromised, as his vision in that eye is still far from 20/20, even with a contact lens. Malhotra would also need to use a full face shield when he returns.

Description: Manny Malhotra skated in full gear at Canucks' practice on Tuesday. TEAM 1040
Insight: Don't assume that Malhotra is close to returning, as he still has not been cleared for contact. It appears that his eye is healing, but the chances of him returning during the playoffs appear very minimal.

5/12/2011 3:15:00 PM
Description: Manny Malhotra skated alone and with his teammates during practice on Thursday, but he is not expected to return to the lineup soon. TSN
Insight: Malhotra skated without pads, but he was wearing a full face shield. Canucks GM Mike Gillis confirmed that Malhotra's eye has made significant improvements, but he isn't expected to return during this season's playoffs.

3/29/2011 8:02:00 PM
Description: Manny Malhotra underwent successful eye surgery on Tuesday, although an official prognosis for his future won't be known for another 6-8 weeks. TSN
Insight: The procedure went as well as it could possibly go, so only time will tell how well Malhotra will be able to see out of that eye again, let alone play in the NHL.

3/28/2011 7:05:00 PM
Description: Manny Malhotra will reportedly undergo eye surgery on Tuesday. TSN
Insight: NBA star Steve Nash, who is also Malhotra's brother-in-law, announced the news on his Twitter feed, although the Canucks have not offered an update. Malhotra is expected to miss the rest of the regular season and the playoffs while he hopes to regain the sight in his eye.

3/21/2011 5:23:00 PM
Description: Manny Malhotra will miss the rest of the regular season and the playoffs because of his injured eye. TSN
Insight: This news is no surprise, considering the feeling that was coming from the Canucks regarding the injury. Malhotra's career, however, has to be in jeopardy. Hopefully Malhotra will be fortunate enough to regain the sight in his eye, let alone resume a career in hockey.

3/20/2011 11:47:00 AM
Description: It is not known yet whether Manny Malhotra will be able to regain sight in his injured eye or if he does, how much sight he will have. Vancouver Province
Insight: There seem to be too many similarities to Malhotra's injury to the one that affected Brian Berard several years ago. Malhotra was hit in the eye with a puck during Wednesday's game against Colorado and needed emergency surgery on the eye. If he returns at any point during this season, both he and the Canucks will be extremely lucky.

3/17/2011 4:41:00 PM
Description: Manny Malhotra underwent surgery on his eye after he took a puck there during Wednesday's game. TSN
Insight: No bones were broken around his eye, but the main concern right now is his vision. The Canucks are expected to offer an update on his condition later on Thursday. Malhotra is second to Jonathan Toews in the NHL with 778 faceoffs won, so his loss to the Canucks goes beyond goals and assists.

Description: Manny Malhotra left Wednesday's game against Colorado in the second period after taking a puck to his face. Globe & Mail
Insight: Malhotra and the Canucks' third line has been hot recently, as Malhotra has six points in his last six games. Check back for further updates.

3/7/2011 1:22:00 AM
Description: Manny Malhotra scored two goals with a +2 in the Canucks' 3-0 win over Anaheim on Sunday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Jannik Hansen assisted on both of Malhotra's goals. Malhotra has 11 goals and 27 points, which isn't overly appealing for a player at the center position. But if you play in a deep league that counts faceoffs, Malhotra may be just your guy. He is currently second in the NHL with 734 faceoffs won, only five behind league-leader Jonathan Toews.

11/7/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: Malhotra doubled his season goal count with a pair in Saturday night's win over Detroit.
Insight: He added an assist to post a game-high three points and be named the game's second star. (RapidDraft.com)

11/7/2010 1:05:00 AM
Description: Manny Malhotra scored two goals and added an assist in the Canucks' 6-4 win over Detroit on Saturday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: One of Malhotra's goals was on the power play, while the other was shorthanded. He has fit in nicely on the Canucks this season with ten points (4g-6a) in 13 games, although the Canucks acquired him for his leadership and ability to win faceoffs.

11/2/2010 8:05:00 AM
Description: Malhotra recorded an assist on Monday against the Devils.
Insight: Malhotra now has four points in his last three games with two goals and two assists over that span. (RapidDraft.com)
