NHL Game Summary - Chicago at Boston

(Thursday, March 27th)

Final Score: Boston 3, Chicago 0

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Patrice Bergeron scored two goals and the Boston Bruins blanked Chicago, 3-0, in the Blackhawks' first visit to TD Garden since winning the Stanley Cup last June.

Tuukka Rask made 28 saves for his NHL-leading seventh shutout of the season, as the Bruins improved to 13-0-1 in their last 14 games.

"You never want to play on your heels," Boston head coach Claude Julien said. "When you've got a one-goal lead, you want to extend it before you even think of protecting the lead."

Corey Crawford stopped 20 shots for the Blackhawks, who were shut out for the second time in three games.

Chicago is one point away from clinching a playoff berth for the sixth straight year.

"We're looking to get one more win," Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville said.

Bergeron went to the slot and redirected Matt Bartkowski's point shot past Crawford, extending his goal streak to five games and giving Boston a 1-0 lead at 11:50 of the first period.

Carl Soderberg and Bergeron scored 13 seconds apart in the third period to provide the Bruins with some breathing room.

Johnny Boychuk kept a puck whipped off the boards by Brandon Bollig in at the right point and fired a shot that didn't reach Crawford. Blackhawks defenseman Nick Leddy swept the puck to the stick of Soderberg and he scored from the bottom of the right circle at 5:28.

The Bruins struck again after Crawford turned the puck over behind his net. Brad Marchand stole the goaltender's pass and quickly fed Bergeron, who fired a shot from near the bottom of the left circle.

Caught out of position, Crawford tried to dislodge the net. The net fell forward, but remained on its moorings when the puck crossed the goal line at 5:41.
