NHL Game Summary - St. Louis at Dallas
(Sunday, March 3rd)
Final Score: Dallas 4, St. Louis 1
Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Derek Roy posted a goal and two assists to lead the Dallas Stars in a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.
Loui Eriksson posted a goal and an assist while Jaromir Jagr and Erik Cole also scored for the Stars, who had dropped four of six coming in. Kari Lehtonen posted 25 stops in the win.
"It wasn't a pretty hockey game to watch, but at the end of the day if you play enough of those the right way you're going to get results," said Dallas head coach Glen Gulutzan. "We got them tonight."
David Perron scored the lone goal of the game for the Blues, who have lost four of six. Brian Elliott gave up all four goals on 27 shots.
St. Louis got the first goal of the game on a nice effort from Perron as he took a pass and got the goaltender to commit before tucking it in at the 4:20 mark, but it was all Dallas from there.
The team tied the game off a turnover with 4:01 to play in the first. Roy had the puck in the slot and sent it to the low right side where Antoine Roussel sent the puck back to the slot and Cole one-timed it home.
Just over two minutes later, Dallas took a 2-1 lead when Roy picked off a pass in the St. Louis end and snapped it in from the left circle for his third of the year.
After a scoreless second period, the Blues appeared to tie the game when Adam Cracknell got the puck in from in front, but the referee waived off the goal and the replay upheld the call as Cracknell was ruled to have kicked the puck in.
"The league ruled on it and said that it was conclusive that it wasn't a goal from upstairs, so whatever the call is it is," said St. Louis head coach Ken Hitchcock.
A few minutes later, the Stars made it a 3-1 game when Jamie Benn sent a pass from the left side over to the right and Eriksson was able to wrist it home with 9:32 to play.
Jagr put the game out of reach with a minute to play as his one-timer from down low while on the power play beat Elliott to the far side.
Dallas has off until Thursday when it will play in Los Angeles ... St. Louis continues its five-game road trip in Los Angeles on Tuesday ... The Blues took a 4-3 decision in Dallas on Jan. 26.
