Blue Jackets extend qualifying offer to Johansen
Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Blue Jackets extended a qualifying offer to center Ryan Johansen on Monday.
Johansen, 21, led the team in goals (33) and points (63) last season, his third in the NHL.
The fourth overall pick of Columbus in the 2010 draft, he has posted 47 goals and 49 assists in 189 games, all with the Blue Jackets.
Also given qualifying offers were forwards Sean Collins, Dana Tyrell, Matt Frattin, Corey Tropp and defensemen Cody Goloubef, Tim Erixon, David Savard and Will Weber.
The Blue Jackets will have the right of the first refusal on each player or will receive a draft pick as compensation should any of the players sign an offer sheet with another team.
Columbus did not extend offers to defenseman Anton Blomqvist and forwards Jake Hansen and Oliver Gabriel, all of whom will become unrestricted free agents when free agency begins on July 1.
