Orlov suspended 2 games for Sunday hit
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The National Hockey League issued a two- game suspension to Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov on Monday.
Orlov was given a major for boarding with 10:27 remaining in regulation in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to Philadelphia, when he unleashed an illegal check to the back of Flyers forward Brayden Schenn.
The 22-year-old will forfeit $7,076.92 in salary, which automatically goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. He will miss his club's rematch with Philly on Wednesday as well as Thursday's contest in Boston, and is not eligible to return until Saturday at home against Phoenix.
Washington recalled defenseman Jack Hillen from Hershey of the AHL to take Orlov's roster spot.
