Ducks keep dealing, nab Robidas from Stars

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Anaheim Ducks made their second notable pre-deadline trade on Tuesday, acquiring veteran defenseman Stephane Robidas from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a conditional 2014 fourth-round draft choice.

According to the Orange County Register, the pick going to the Stars is the one Anaheim obtained from Washington earlier in the day for sending forward Dustin Penner to the Capitals.

Robidas, who is nearing a return from a broken leg he suffered on Nov. 29, owns 871 regular-season games of NHL experience over 14 seasons. The 37-year- old had been Dallas' longest-tenured player at the time of the deal, having been with the club since the 2005-06 campaign.

The Quebec native spent 11 seasons total in Dallas over two separate stints, having been traded to Chicago during the 2003-04 season and re-signing with the Stars following the 2004-05 lockout.

"Stephane is the consummate professional," said Stars general manager Jim Nill. "He has set a great example for our young core, not only when he was playing, but in his recovery as well. We want to wish Stephane and his family the best and thank him for all that he's done in his time here."

Prior to his injury, Robidas had recorded four goals, one assist and a plus- seven rating in 24 games this season.
