Lightning provide injury updates on three
Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Lightning offered injury updates for three players on Friday.
Goaltender Ben Bishop has an upper-body injury and is day-to-day, backup Anders Lindback is out for an indeterminate period of time with a lower-body issue and forward Valtteri Filppula is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Bishop left Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Senators in Ottawa after colliding with a teammate. Bishop dove to his left in an attempt to knock the puck away from Ottawa's Mike Zibanejad, but Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, who was trailing on the play, failed to jump over Bishop. Kucherov's knee hit the back of Bishop's head.
"We'll have to see how he's feeling ... we'll have to make a decision on him tomorrow," said Bolts head coach Jon Cooper.
With Bishop injured on the ice, Ottawa defenseman Marc Methot scored at the 1:49 mark of the first period.
Lindback subbed for Bishop, and suffered his malady during the course of the contest.
"You probably won't see him until after the Olympic break," added Cooper. "It was a pretty gutty performance by him, though, because that happened some time during the second period."
Filppula left the game and did not return after absorbing a hard open-ice hit from Sens defenseman Eric Gryba.
Tampa Bay plays the Canadiens on Saturday afternoon.
