Description: Chiefs TE Brad Cottam (neck surgery) is not working out at OTAs and is considered week-to-week.
Insight: The Chiefs drafted a tight end (Tony Moeaki) so they're moving on from Cottan. He never had all that much fantasy value, anyway. (

Description: Cottam caught four passes for a season-high 62 yards on Sunday against the Browns.
Insight: Cottam had his best game of the season but still has little fantasy value. (

Description: Cottam had one catch for 26 yards on Sunday against the Bills.
Insight: Cottam has four catches in his last two games but still has no fantasy value. (

Description: Cottam had a season-high three catches for 21 yards on Sunday against Denver.
Insight: Cottam had not had a catch since Week 3 but still has minimal fantasy value. (

Description: Cottam is back practicing with the Chiefs after sitting out a few days with an ankle injury.
Insight: Cottam is no threat to put up anywhere near the numbers that the departed Tony Gonzalez did when he was with Kansas City. The tight end position is not a big concern in coach Todd Haley's offense, so move along to fill your fantasy needs. (

Description: Coach Todd Haley says that seventh-round rookie Jake O'Connell and undrafted free agent Tom Crabtree are in the fight with Cottam for the starting tight end gig, according to the Kansas City Star.
Insight: It's not a good sign that Cottam, a former third-round pick, has yet to win the job -- even though the team has a whole new coaching staff and quarterback in just his second season. Cottam was never a big receiving threat in college and should go undrafted in nearly all fantasy leagues. (

Description: The trade of Tony Gonzalez to Atlanta suddenly presses Cottam into the No. 1 role for the Chiefs.
Insight: Cottam showed decent receiving skills in college but never caught more than 14 passes in a season -- thanks in part to injuries. He made just seven receptions as a rookie, so he remains an unknown quantity. If the team doesn't draft another tight end within the first three rounds this weekend, Cottam could be a late-round fantasy flier. If they do, he's waiver fodder. (

Description: In his rookie season out of Tennessee, Cottam had seven catches for 63 yards.
Insight: He should continue to back up Tony Gonzalez and not see much playing time as long as Gonzalez is healthy. Cottam is mainly used as a blocker. (
