Description: With RB Kenneth Darby entering free agency, the Rams are expected to upgrade the backup spot behind RB Steven Jackson. SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: Darby was possibly one of the weakest backups in the league in 2010. He averaged just 3.15 ypc and will likely catch on somewhere else as nothing more than a third stringer.

Description: The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Darby got most of the first-team practice reps on Wednesday.
Insight: With Steven Jackson (groin) sitting out practice, this is not a huge surprise. Darby may get the start if Jackson can't go on Sunday against Seattle, and could at least get a few more carries in the game than usual. (

Description: The Rams gave RB Kenneth Darby most of the first-team reps in practice Wednesday. SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: Keith Toston also worked a little with the starting unit, but it appears Darby will start if Steven Jackson (groin) can't go against the Seahawks. Darby is nothing more than a flex option if he gets the nod.

Description: The Rams reportedly inquired about one of the Patriots' running backs before RB Laurence Maroney was traded to the Broncos. SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: With probably one of the worst backups in the league in Kenneth Darby, the Rams were looking to trade for a player other than Maroney. Darby finished Week One with just one carry for two yards against the Cardinals.

Description: According to Rams HC Steve Spagnuolo, RB Kenneth Darby is the backup behind RB Steven Jackson. SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: Rams fans better hope Jackson plays all sixteen games because this is the weakest running back depth in the league. We can't recommend Darby as a handcuff.

Description: According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Darby has moved into the the No. 2 tailbacks spot for the Rams, behind Steven Jackson.
Insight: Given Jackson's injury history, the idea that Darby could step into a starting role and significant playing time is not so far fetched. But that does not mean he would have terrific fantasy value. (
7/29/2009 9:26:00 AM
Description: reports that Darby is leading the competition for the Rams' No. 2 running back job.
Insight: That's a significant role, with starter Steven Jackson having missed four games in each of the past two seasons. Darby averaged 4.4 yards on 32 carries last year and caught 19 passes as part of the group filling in for Jackson. (
4/14/2009 6:45:00 PM
Description: Appearing in ten games with the Rams last season, Darby rushed 32 times for 140 yards. He also had 19 catches for 183 yards.
Insight: Darby is a nice change of pace back for the Rams but does not produce enough to warrant having any fantasy value. (
Steady12/21/2008 6:29:00 PM
Description: Darby had a productive day out of the backfield. He led the Rams with five receptions and 57 yards.
Insight: The second year player from Alabama has 17 grabs in limited action. He also had five rushes for 15 yards. If anything happens to Steven Jackson, Darby's could be a name to know. (

Description: Kenneth Darby will be the starter in the backfield today when the Rams take on the Jets. He is no kind of fantasy option against one of the league's best run defenses. (
