Description: Rams re-signed WR Mark Clayton to a one-year contract. Source: Aaron Wilson via Twitter
Insight: The Rams are confident that he'll be healthy enough during the season to have him on the roster. This is also bad news, potentially, for Donario Alexander but Clayton will have some work to do as he's behind Mike Sims-Walker, Donnie Avery and Brandon Gibson.

Description: The Rams and free agent WR Mark Clayton have reportedly had "steady dialogue" regarding a new deal before March 4th. SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: VP of football operations Kevin Demoff said that even if the two sides can't come to an agreement by that date, it "wouldn't change our opinion on wanting him back." If Clayton can gain any of his 2010 form before injuring his knee, the signing will be worth it.

Description: According to Rams GM Billy Devaney , the team is interested in bringing back WR Mark Clayton (knee). SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: Currently recovering from a torn right patellar tendon, Clayton showed a lot of promise and chemistry with rookie Sam Bradford early in the year. It makes sense on both sides to come up with a one-year "show us" deal. The Rams desperately need someone to step up and be the go-to guy and Clayton would be able to gain some of his value back if he wins a starting job. Depending on how Clayton looks in training camp, we tentatively value him as a WR3 if he starts. Luckily, the tear happened in early October, so he is already deep into rehab.

Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, via Twitter, that Clayton's (right knee) season-ending knee injury is a torn patella tendon.
Insight: Clayton will be a free agent coming off reconstructive knee surgery after the season, which stands to hurt his chances of landing a lucrative contract. (

Description: Rams WR Mark Clayton suffered a torn patella tendon in his right knee. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: What makes the season-ending injury even worse is that Clayton enters free agency in 2011. Clayton was off to the best start of his career with 23 catches, but may have to sign a low-end deal to prove he can continue to play at a high level.

Description: Rams WR Mark Clayton says he is out for the year after injuring his knee against the Lions. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: There has been no official word and we are only going by what Clayton says, but it sounds like he may have a torn ligament/ligaments. If Clayton is out for the rest of 2010, Brandon Gibson will move into the starting lineup. Look for the "Vincent Jackson-to-Rams" rumors to start up again this week.

Description: The right knee injury Rams WR Mark Clayton suffered is said to be "serious." SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: An MRI will reveal more, but it looks like the Rams' newest acquisition could either miss an extended amount of time, or possibly the season. The fact that Clayton wasn't even touched when his knee gave out is a very bad sign.
10/10/2010 2:05:00 PM
Description: Clayton was carted off the field in the first quarter of the Week 5 game at Detroit with a serious-looking leg injury. It was a non-contact injury.
Insight: We'll provide updates as this one develops. Clayton has been Sam Bradford's favorite target, so a serious injury would make a lot of looks available for the team's other receivers. (

Description: Rams WR Mark Clayton is out against the Lions after suffering a knee injury.
Insight: Update: Clayton is out for the rest of the game.
10/5/2010 3:01:00 PM
Description: The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Rams' head coach Steve Spagnuolo came away from Week 4 impressed by Clayton's "great catches."
Insight: Clayton has quickly built a rapport with rookie Sam Bradford, and is a solid WR2 in most fantasy leagues right now. (
10/4/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: Clayton had five receptions for 72 yards on Sunday against Seattle.
Insight: Clayton has emerged as the Rams' No. 1 wide receiver, so he should continue to see plenty of targets from Sam Bradford. (
9/27/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: Clayton had five receptions for 85 yards against Washington on Sunday.
Insight: Clayton appears to be Rams' No. 1 wide receiver at this point, which makes him ownable in nearly all fantasy leagues. (
9/20/2010 12:04:00 PM
Description: Clayton had two receptions for 24 yards and two touchdowns against the Raiders on Sunday.
Insight: Clayton followed up a 10-catch performance in Week 1 with this two touchdown game. He is worth owning in most fantasy leagues. (
9/19/2010 11:36:00 AM
Description: Raiders DB Nnamdi Asomugha is expected to be matched up against Rams WR Mark Clayton in today's contest. SOURCE: ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Insight: Matched up against Asomugha last week, Justin Gage went without a catch. We wouldn't use the hot waiver-wire pickup this week unless we absolutely had to.
9/13/2010 10:05:00 AM
Description: Clayton had 10 receptions for 119 yards in St. Louis' loss to Arizona on Sunday.
Insight: An excellent performance by Clayton, especially considering he was only acquired by the Rams last Monday. He seems to already have a nice rapport with rookie QB Sam Bradford. (
9/8/2010 4:57:00 PM
Description: The Rams installed WR Mark Clayton as the "Z" receiver, which was WR Donnie Avery's old position. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: With Clayton at flanker, it looks like Laurent Robinson's starting job at split end is safe. Clayton will be eased into the offense, but he could supplant Danny Amendola within the next few weeks into the season. Clayton is a nice waiver-wire stash if you have room.
9/6/2010 11:05:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports, via Twitter, that the Rams have acquired Clayton from the Ravens in exchange for future late-round "considerations."
Insight: Baltimore's signing of T.J. Houshmandzadeh made Clayton expendable. He could become a fantasy factor once he learns the Rams' offense. (
9/6/2010 4:26:00 PM
Description: WR Mark Clayton has been traded to the St. Louis Rams after the Ravens signed former Bengal T.J. Houshmenzadeh. SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: In a fantasy sense, this is a great move for Mark Clayton owners, especially after Housh was signed in Baltimore. Clayton now joins another former OU Sooner in Sam Bradford, and these two could actually make a very formidable combination. Clayton receives an immediate upgrade; so does Bradford. I think this is a win-win for everyone.
8/29/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: Mark Clayton sustained a concussion against the Giants in Saturday night's game.
Insight: Clayton will have some fantasy value now that Donte Stallworth will be out for two months with a broken foot. Keep tabs on his recovery from the concussion. (
8/5/2010 6:38:00 PM
Description: Mark Clayton is running with the first team offense while Derrick Mason nurses an ankle sprain.
Insight: Don't get fooled by this news. Clayton is still going to be lucky to make this new and improved roster. (
