Description: Browns running back Ben Tate was one of the most disappointing fantasy players in Week 7.
Insight: Tate had 202 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games, so to run for only 36 yards on 16 carries against Jacksonville is a huge bust. The Browns did not score a touchdown.

10/19/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate was on the injury report with a finger injury, but as expected will be ready for the optioning whistle.
Insight: He is locked and loaded as a low-end RB1 this week against the Jaguars.

10/16/2014 6:12:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate was on the injury report with a finger injury, but still practiced in full.
Insight: He is locked and loaded as a low-end RB1 this week against the Jaguars.

10/12/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate scored his first two touchdowns of 2014.
Insight: He had 25 carries for 78 yards, and is clearly Cleveland's lead back. Isaiah Crowell did chip in with 11 carries for 77 yards. Tate will continue to be a solid RB2 moving forward.

10/8/2014 6:03:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate is fully practicing this week.
Insight: Tate finally returned to action against the Titans last week and rushed for 123 yards on 22 carries. Tate is a low-end RB1 this week against the Steelers. Tate averaged 6.8 yards per rush against Pittsburgh in Week 1.

10/5/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate rushed for 123 yards on 22 carries against the Titans on Sunday.
Insight: Tate put to bed any idea of a running-back-by-committee system in Cleveland. He carried the ball 15 times more than any other back. If he stays healthy, Tate is the man in Cleveland, but that's a big if.

10/5/2014 11:50:00 AM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate is active for Week 5 against the Titans.
Insight: Tate will start, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Friday that Tate was still worried about his knee. We would start him with caution due to the fact the Browns can move him along slowly, giving the rookie backs more touches.

9/30/2014 2:04:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate is practicing Tuesday.
Insight: Head coach Mike Pettine has said he'll start if he's healthy. Still with the performances of Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West, we don't know how big a share of the workload he'll get. Sounds more and more like an RBBC.

9/22/2014 5:12:00 PM
Description: Browns head coach Mike Pettine would not confirm that running back Ben Tate would return as the starter when he gets back on the field according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Cleveland has a bye in Week 4, so there is a good chance Tate returns for the Browns' next game in Week 5. Pettine did say the Browns are "eager" to get Tate back, but with the emergence of rookies Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell, Pettine says it has "made it tougher" to rely solely on Tate. At this point, owners of all three backs have to expect a running back by committee.

9/14/2014 11:51:00 AM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate is inactive against the Saints for Week 2.
Insight: Tate suffered a knee injury against the Steelers in Week 1. On Friday, Tate hinted that he is hoping to return after the Browns bye week, which is Week 4. Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell will get the carries for Cleveland against New Orleans.

9/12/2014 1:59:00 PM
Description: Browns RB Ben Tate will not play in Week 2 due to a knee injury and according to Mary Kay Cabot, Browns beatwriter for Plain Dealer is targeting a Week 5 return.
Insight: Tate has always been a bit fragile and hopefully fantasy owners handcuffed Terrance West. West and backup Isaiah Crowell will have two weeks to display their talents. Heading into Week 2, only West is a viable fantasy option.

9/10/2014 2:13:00 PM
Description: Browns head coach Mike Pettine confirmed that Ben Tate will not play in Week 2 due to a knee injury.
Insight: It could be worse. Fortunately, it's just a sprained knee and he'll be re-evaluated next week. Tate has always been a bit fragile and hopefully fantasy owners handcuffed Terrance West.

9/8/2014 5:00:00 PM
Description: Browns head coach Mike Pettine did not give an injury update on Ben Tate or Jordan Cameron on Monday.
Insight: Tate and Cameron both left Sunday's game against the Steelers. We would advise fantasy owners to plan for both to miss Week 2.

9/7/2014 2:54:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate left Sunday's game against the Steelers due to a knee injury and is questionable to return.
Insight: Tate was hurt on a 25-yard run in the second quarter. He looked fine when he left the field but has not returned. Rookie Terrance West is now the Browns No. 1 back. With the game looking like a blow out at half time, Tate might not even return if he could.

8/31/2014 11:01:00 PM
Description: Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports Browns head coach Mike Pettine said he's comfortable with running back Ben Tate playing on third down.
Insight: This is certainly good news for Tate owners, but it hurts fantasy owners that were hoping rookie Terrance West would get some opportunities to get on the field on third downs. It now looks like West's only fantasy value is as a handcuff, which is still a useful because of Tate's injury record.

7/18/2014 8:52:00 PM
Description: Vic Carucci of clevelandbrowns.com expects rookie running back Terrance West to push Ben Tate for the starting job in training camp.
Insight: The Browns signed Tate this offseason and drafted West in the third round. Tate backed up Arian Foster the past three years in Houston and had 1,992 yards and 10 touchdowns on 421 carries (4.7 ypc) and is the favorite to win the job. The Browns are expected to be a run-heavy team this season following Josh Gordon's expected suspension, so both Tate and West could see enough carries to make them fantasy options.

Description: Browns coach Mike Pettine says the team will use a "running back by committte" in 2014. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: "I think in the AFC North, you have to be running back by committee," Pettine said. "You'd like to have a guy that can carry most of the load, but also be able to alternate guys." With one-back proponent Kyle Shanahan in the fold as offensive coordinator, free-agent signee Ben Tate looked to be in a great situation after backing up Arian Foster for a few years, but third-round pick Terrance West is going to be more involved than anyone expected.

Description: With Josh Gordon facing a lengthy suspension, the Browns will use a run-first offense in 2014. SOURCE: Pat McManamon, ESPN
Insight: Last season, the Browns led the NFL in passing attempts. This year, they might lead it in rushing attempts. Tate, a backup for his entire tenure in Houston, should be in for a special season as long as he can stay healthy.

3/15/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Ben Tate's new two-year deal with Cleveland could pay him up to $7 million according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Tate fills a huge need for the Browns, who were forced to start ancient Willis McGahee at halfback last season. Now that he's out from Arian Foster's shadow, this will be a good chance for Tate to finally spread his wings. We smell a 1,000-yard season on the horizon.

3/15/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Free agent Ben Tate will take a physical for the Cleveland Browns on Saturday and if he passes will sign with the team, according to a Cleveland Plain Dealer report.
Insight: Tate should immediately move to the top of the depth chart, ahead of the likes of Fozzy Whitaker, Edwin Baker, Dion Lewis and Jamaine Cook.
