Description: Steve Slaton has re-signed with the Dolphins.
Insight: Slaton was a non-factor in Miami's offense last year (17 carries for 64 yards, one touchdown). Even if Reggie Bush gets hurt again, Daniel Thomas is still ahead of Slaton on the depth chart. Slaton's terrific 1,282 yard rookie season in 2008 seems like a long time ago.

Description: Texans waive RB Steve Slaton. Source: Jason LaCanfora via Twitter
Insight: After neck surgeries and fumbling problems, he just wasn't able to get back into the rotation. The Houston Chronicle also reported loss of confidence, as well. He should get a look and garner some interest from other clubs needing an RB, like maybe the Bengals or Cardinals.

Description: The Houston Texans could give RB Steve Slaton as many carries as possible during the preseason to showcase him to other teams. The team will not release Slaton but would be willing to listen to trade offers. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY
Insight: The club is not likely to cut the former 1,000-yard rusher, but it would entertain trade offers for him. With Arian Foster having such a great year in 2010 and Ben Tate expected to be 100%, Slaton clearly becomes expendable.

Description: The Texans could try and trade RB Steve Slaton before the 2011 season starts. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: The last running back spot behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate will come down to Derrick Ward and Slaton, with Ward getting the slight edge. After not being able to live up to the hype from his rookie season, Slaton will be nothing more than a change-of-pace back going forward wherever he goes. We don't see any team forking over a pick when they know he will likely end up being cut.

Description: There is a chance that Texans RB Steve Slaton may not make the 2011 roster. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: Ben Tate, Derrick Ward and Slaton are believed to be fighting for two spots. Tate is assured one, so that leaves Ward and Slaton to compete for the other. Slaton's last two years worth of stats hasn't totaled half of the output he made in 2008.

Description: Texans RB Steve Slaton (turf toe) says he will play against the Colts on Sunday after confirming he practiced this week. SOURCE: HOUSTONTEXANS.COM
Insight: Slaton is strictly the change-of-pace back behind Arian Foster, who will get a majority of the carries. We don't like Slaton in any format with him as the backup.
9/5/2010 12:03:00 AM
Description: Some fantasy players might see Houston's signing of Derrick Ward as a threat to Slaton's already-sliding value. The third-year back is expected to play in the opener, however, according to multiple sources.
Insight: Arian Foster is the clear first Texans back off fantasy boards right now, but Slaton remains the clear second option. Expecting anything of value from Ward seems foolish. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Texans RB Steve Slaton (turf toe) was in a walking boot Monday and didn't participate in practice. SOURCE: HOUSTONTEXANS.COM
Insight: Turf toe is so unpredictable that Slaton's Week One status is very questionable at this point. That's good news for Arian Foster as Slaton was the only running back on the squad who could push for playing time early in the season.

Description: Texans RB Steve Slaton left early against the Cowboys because of a turf toe injury. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Turf toe injuries are known to linger for weeks, depending on the severity. Arian Foster looked outstanding against Dallas' defense, rushing for 110 yards and a touchdown, while chipping in four receptions. Slaton is nothing more than handcuff material going forward.

Description: Steve Slaton left Saturday's game against the Cowboys with a foot injury.
Insight: The injury appears to be turf toe, something that could seriously affect his fantasy status. He was already an afterthought behind Arian Foster. (RapidDraft.com)
8/22/2010 10:25:00 AM
Description: Steve Slaton rushed five times for 19 yards and added one reception for -4 yards against the Saints in Saturday's preseason game.
Insight: Slaton played with the second string and was also used on kickoffs. He's well behind Arian Foster right now. (RapidDraft.com)
8/18/2010 7:15:00 PM
Description: Texans coaches reportedly believe that Steve Slaton's tendency to run too high when he's tired is at the root of his fumbling problems.
Insight: Slaton?s fumbling issues appear to have scuttled what was once a very promising career. Arian Foster is the guy you want to own in the Texans? backfield. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Texans RB Steve Slaton's fumble problems continue after he fumbled a carry near the endzone, which the Cardinals recovered for a touchback in Saturday night's game. SOURCE: NFL.COM
Insight: Fumble issues plagued Slaton all of 2009 and it looks like he could be in the doghouse early. With Ben Tate's 2010 season in jeopardy and Slaton's fumbling issues, it looks like Foster's starting status is safe going into the regular season.
8/3/2010 1:02:00 PM
Description: Texans RB Steve Slaton is reportedly off to a strong start in training camp. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: Slaton has shown no lingering affects from his neck surgery, but the news that the team is trying him out on kick returns bothers us more. Slaton had a decent shot at unseating Arian Foster. But if the team keeps him on returns, Slaton will be no better than a third-down option.
6/29/2010 10:26:00 PM
Description: Steve Slaton (neck surgery) indicated on Twitter Monday that he's been medically cleared for training camp.
Insight: Slaton is a clear backup at the moment to Ben Tate and Arian Foster. However, he could very easily get back into the mix if either of those gets injured. (SportsBuff.com)
6/21/2010 8:49:00 PM
Description: Texans coach Gary Kubiak is optimistic that Steve Slaton will be cleared for live contact in camp during his June 25 medical check.
Insight: Salton;s value is a fraction of what it used to be. However, if injuries strike the Texans' backfield, he could end up surprising as he did his rookie season. (SportsBuff.com)
6/8/2010 10:24:00 PM
Description: Steve Slaton (neck surgery) is still wearing a red, no-contact jersey in Texans practices.
Insight: Hard to believe it was just a year ago when Slaton was being taken in the first round in fantasy drafts. He'll primarily be a third down back this season. (sportsBuff.com)
5/24/2010 9:28:00 PM
Description: Steve Slaton reiterated that he's "doing well" in his recovery from offseason neck surgery.
Insight: That's great for him, but he's still staring at a third down role. The Texans should have Arian Foster and Ben Tate handling the majority of their rushing duties this year. (sportsBuff.com)
5/19/2010 2:30:00 PM
Description: Steve Slaton attributes his fumbling issues from last season to the nerve condition in his neck that eventually required fusion surgery.
Insight: This may very well be the case, but don't expect Slaton to get his starting job back any time soon. Houston looks to be heading towards a full-blown, running back by committee situation to avoid. (SportsBuff.com)
4/26/2010 10:08:00 PM
Description: Texans coach Gary Kubiak raved about second-round pick Ben Tate after the draft.
Insight: Fantasy owners should acquaint themselves with the guy who is going to take over for Slaton. Poor Steve will go back to the role he was originally drafted for, third-down receiving back (aka a glorified Kevin Faulk.) (Sportsbuff.com)
