Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen suffered a concussion against the Lions on Sunday and will miss Week 17 according to the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: Clausen took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Detroit defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah, but didn't miss a snap. Clausen, however, went to the hospital after the game. Jay Cutler will be back under center for Week 17 against the Vikings.

Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw two touchdowns during Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Insight: Clausen threw for 181 yards and an interception as well, and actually did a decent job. He will likely start Week 17.
12/17/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen will start in Week 16.
Insight: That's how bad it is in Chicago. The Bears $127 million quarterback is headed to the bench in favor of Clausen. It seems highly unlikely Cutler is going anywhere with his massive guaranteed contract for the next two years, so this start isn't a try out for Clausen.

Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen has won the backup job to starter Jay Cutler.
Insight: Jordan Palmer was cut Sunday. Clausen hasn't thrown a pass since he had 1,558 yards, three touchdowns and nine picks on 299 attempts (52.5 completion percentage, 5.21 yards per attempt) as a rookie in 2010. Of course, coach Marc Trestman also helped journeyman Josh McCown turn into a viable fantasy quarterback last season and Cutler has missed 12 games over the last three years.

Description:'s Michael C. Wright says that Jimmy Clausen "appears poised to unseat" Jordan Palmer for the backup QB job.
Insight: Clausen hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL since his rookie year in 2010, when he had a 3/9 TD/INT ratio and a .525 completion percentage. But remember that Josh McCown was a journeyman with a 37/44 TD/INT prior to putting up a 13/1 TD/INT and a .665 completion percentage in Bears coach Marc Trestman's offense last season. Bears starter Jay Cutler has missed 13 games over the past four years.

Description: For the first time since early February foot surgery, Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen worked out and ran Tuesday. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Clausen admitted he's "out of shape," but he has plenty of time to get back in good condition. As bad as he was last year, he will still likely compete for the starting job if the team can't trade for a veteran.

Description: Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen recently underwent minor foot (left) surgery. SOURCE: CHARLOTTE OBSERVER
Insight: The procedure, done last week, was minor and it shouldn't have much of an affect on his status for training camp. Clausen said his foot had bothered him for much of the season, which could explain some of his awful rookie season. Still, the team isn't likely going to give him a chance to compete for the starting job in 2011.

Description: According to ESPN's Ron Jaworski, the Panthers shouldn't give up on QB Jimmy Clausen after his miserable rookie year. SOURCE: CHARLOTTE OBSERVER
Insight: "You've got to look at what happened throughout the year - the running game, the injuries. ... The defense wasn't where it should have been." It doesn't sound like Carolina is going to dismiss him so soon either, but it's a bit of a cop out to say that the defense was a reason why Clausen passing percentage was so bad. The Panthers are expected to let Clausen learn on the sideline while a veteran leads the team and shows him the ropes.

Description: Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen is reportedly still part of the team's "long-term plan." SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: The Panthers are predicted to sign a vet for a "short-term fix" in the hopes Clausen can mature on the sidelines. The player signed is going to have to be willing to teach while knowing Clausen could take his job at any time.

Description: It would be a surprise if Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen enters the 2011 season as the starter. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: With the Panthers already announcing that quarterback will be a top priority, expect the team to bring in a veteran for competition and that player likely winning the job. We could also see the team draft a quarterback late.

Description: Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen finished the season with the worst quarterback rating in the league among qualifying passers with 58.4. SOURCE: CHARLOTTE OBSERVER
Insight: Clausen dipped to the second round of the draft for a reason. And not just because of his poor attitude. He also finished with a 1-9 record with a 3:9 TD-to-INT ratio. Many experts have the team drafting Stanford QB Andrew Luck after Clausen proved to be a huge disaster.

Description: The Panthers may be expecting rookie QB Jimmy Clausen (concussion) to play this week after not signing anyone to the 53-man roster. SOURCE: CHARLOTTE OBSERVER
Insight: The team did make one move, signing Keith Null to the practice squad, but that was it. After St. Pierre's disastrous Week Eleven, expect Clausen to get the nod if cleared to play.

Description: Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen suffered a concussion against the Buccaneers. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Clausen wasn't great, but he didn't commit any turnovers and completed over 50 percent of his passes. If he isn't medically-cleared to practice this week, we might finally see what Tony Pike can do against the Ravens.
11/10/2010 2:42:00 PM
Description: Panthers HC John Fox has named rookie QB Jimmy Clausen the team's starting quarterback. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Clausen's leash won't be as long as it was before when he subbed for Matt Moore earlier in the season. In fact, we would not be surprised to see Tony Pike get a turn, even though Fox said this weekend's starter would finish out the year. Downgrade all of the team's skill players going forward.
11/7/2010 4:58:00 PM
Description: After going 8-for-18 passing for 47 yards and an interception, Panthers rookie QB Jimmy Clausen was pulled in favor of QB Tony Pike early in the fourth quarter against the Saints.
Insight: Clausen, once again, proved that he just isn't ready to be an NFL-caliber quarterback. The team better hope Matt Moore's shoulder injury isn't serious.
10/11/2010 1:36:00 PM
Description: According to Panthers HC John Fox, it's too early to say whether or not QB Jimmy Clausen will remain the starting quarterback once the team comes out of their Week Six bye. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: At 0-5, Fox could decide to leave Clausen in if he strongly believes he is the future at the position. Clausen has posted a dreadful 47.2 passing percentage as the starter the last three games. This team's receiving unit is so bad, it wouldn't matter if Matt Moore regained his starting job.

Description: The Panthers pulled rookie QB Jimmy Clausen late in the fourth quarter against the Bears. SOURCE: NFL.COM
Insight: If John Fox thought Clausen would be able to ignite the offense, he was sadly mistaken. Clausen has looked dreadful since replacing Matt Moore. He finished the day with a measly 61 yards passing and an interception.
9/27/2010 1:53:00 PM
Description: During his press conference, Panthers HC John Fox said that rookie QB Jimmy Clausen will "more than likely" start against the Saints this coming weekend. SOURCE: ROCK HILL HERALD
Insight: If it wasn't for garbage time, Clausen's stats against the Bengals would have been worse than they were. He completed 16-of-33 passes for 188 yards, one interception and also lost two fumbles. It's not like Matt Moore was any better, but Clausen made him look like Joe Montana. Fox's seat got a little hotter after Sunday's debacle.
9/20/2010 1:09:00 PM
Description: Panthers rookie QB Jimmy Clausen has been officially named the starter against the Bengals this coming weekend. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Matt Moore's ending to the 2009 season proved to be nothing but a lucky fluke after putting up two dismal performances to start this year. Clausen could provide a spark having played in a pro-style offense at Notre Dame, but we expect the ground game to be used even more going forward.
9/20/2010 8:51:00 AM
Description: There is belief that Panthers rookie QB Jimmy Clausen will start Week Three. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: John Fox was noncommittal on who he would start this coming weekend against the Bengals. But after two poor showings by Matt Moore, we think it's time to give the rookie Clausen a chance. Fox has been on the hot seat for the last couple years and he needs a spark to keep himself from losing his head coaching position.
