Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart was given 15 rushing attempts with DeAngelo Williams sidelined, but could only manage 37 yards.
Insight: At least he scored - from two yards out. That's a good sign for a team with a running quarterback in Cam Newton and a fullback-type back in Mike Tolbert. Williams is questionable for next week as is Stewart's fantasy value.

9/14/2014 12:10:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart will be the starting running back this week against the Lions.
Insight: DeAngelo Williams is inactive with a thigh injury. Stewart rushed for just 20 yards on nine carries in Week 1. There is also a possibility Mike Tolbert and Fozzy Whittaker will get carries on Sunday. Plus, going against a tough Lions front seven, Stewart is a risky play even in the Flex.

9/12/2014 2:19:00 PM
Description: Running back Jonathan Stewart could be a viable fantasy option if DeAngelo Williams can't play Sunday.
Insight: Williams is dealing with a thigh injury and missed the last two practices. The one thing the Panthers have is depth at running back. Stewart, Mike Tolbert, and Fozzy Whittaker can carry the load if Williams is inactive. Stewart rushed nine times and caught three balls in Week 1.

8/18/2014 10:01:00 AM
Description: Running back Jonathan Stewart only carried the ball four times in Carolina's second preseason game against Kansas City, but rushed for 26 yards and scored two goal line touchdowns.
Insight: Stewart's value has diminished significantly with injuries the past two seasons. The 27-year-old has rushed for one touchdown in 15 games the last two seasons, but when healthy, he can still be productive splitting carries with DeAngelo Williams. It is also a good sign Stewart is getting involved in goal line packages.

Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.
Insight: Due to injuries, Stewart played 15 games combined and rushed for 3.7 ypc the last two seasons. When healthy, he forms an unenticing backfield with DeAngelo Williams in which the two split carries evenly but neither one gets goal-line touches.

Insight: Given Stewart's history of recovering from injuries, he could be out longer. It's a bad sign that a player who seemingly is always hurt is already injured. He's played 15 games combined and rushed for 3.7 ypc the last two seasons. DeAngelo Williams should be good for another 200 carries, but he lacks upside because Mike Tolbert and Cam Newton are the goal-line rushers.

Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (knee) will miss Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Insight: Knee issues have kept Stewart off the field since Week 14. DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert make for better fantasy options when Stewart is out.

Description: Though he's officially been listed as questionable, the Panthers fully expect running back Jonathan Stewart to play Sunday against San Francisco. SOURCE: Steve Reed, Associated Press
Insight: Knee issues have kept Stewart off the field since Week 14. He'll slide in as a change of pace back behind starter DeAngelo Williams. Both players will cede goal line carries to fullback Mike Tolbert.

1/8/2014 2:39:00 PM
Description: According to Steve Reed of the Associated Press, Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (knee) said he expects to play in the divisional playoff game against the 49ers Sunday.
Insight: Stewart played just six games this season (180 rushing yards), leaving most of the heavy lifting to DeAngelo Williams (843 yards) and red zone work to Mike Tolbert. Stewart probably won't see double-digit touches if he plays so his fantasy value is very limited.

Description: According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers expect Jonathan Stewart back at practice Wednesday.
Insight: Stewart played just six games this season (180 rushing yards), leaving most of the heavy lifting to DeAngelo Williams (843 yards) and red zone work to Mike Tolbert. Stewart probably won't see double-digit touches if he plays so his fantast value is very limited.

12/9/2013 5:47:00 PM
Description: According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers confirmed that running back Jonathan Stewart has a torn MCL.
Insight: Panthers coach Ron Rivera said it's possible Stewart could return in Week 17, but that seems doubtful for the oft-injured running back. DeAngelo Williams will see an increase in carries with Stewart out. Williams has rushed for just 185 yards on 50 carries in five games since Stewart returned from an ankle injury in Week 9, compared to 477 yards on 114 carries the first seven games.

12/9/2013 9:40:00 AM
Description: Carolina running back Jonathan Stewart will have an MRI on his right knee after taking a hit from Keenan Lewis. It appears to be serious, but we should know more after results of the test are announced.
Insight: Obviously that's going to add to DeAngelo Williams' workload and possibly Mike Tolbert's as well.

11/1/2013 7:23:00 PM
Description: Carolina halfback Jonathan Stewart is expected to receive between six and ten touches Sunday when he returns from an ankle injury. SOURCE: Charlotte Observer
Insight: Obviously that's going to cut into DeAngelo Williams' workload and possibly Mike Tolbert's as well. It's not an ideal situation but in a week with so many teams on bye, all three Carolina running backs will be given fantasy consideration.

11/1/2013 1:54:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is expected to be activated from the PUP list on Saturday in advance of Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: It's tough to gage his fantasy value until we see how head coach Ron Rivera balances the workload with Stewart, DeAngelo Williams and goal line vultures Mike Tolbert and Cam Newton.

Description: We might see Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart suit up this week against Atlanta. SOURCE: Steve Reed, Associated Press
Insight: Stewart, who missed Carolina's first seven games with an ankle injury, was seen taking first-team reps at practice on Wednesday. It's tough to gage his fantasy value until we see how head coach Ron Rivera balances the workload with Stewart, DeAngelo Williams and goal line vulture Mike Tolbert.

10/21/2013 2:58:00 PM
Description: Carolina RB Jonathan Stewart will return to practice this week, according to coach Ron Rivera.
Insight: Stewart may still not be ready for the Thursday tilt with Tampa Bay, but fantasy owners should expect him back by Week 9 at the latest and devalue DeAngelo Williams at that time.

10/14/2013 4:59:00 PM
Description: Carolina RB Jonathan Stewart probably needs a "couple more weeks" before he's ready to return to game action. SOURCE: Joseph Person, Charlotte Observer
Insight: Stewart is eligible to return from the PUP list next week but it sounds like his ankle still isn't 100 percent. Assuming Stewart is inactive, DeAngelo Williams should see another big workload Sunday versus the Rams.

10/14/2013 2:04:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (ankles) is eligible to come off the PUP list in Week 7, but that decision isn't confirmed.
Insight: When Stewart returns he will cut into DeAngelo Williams' carries and make both players useless for fantasy purposes. Whether that is in Week 7 or later is still up in the air at this time.

9/24/2013 6:34:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (ankles) is on track to come off the PUP list in Week 7, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Insight: Stewart will cut into DeAngelo Williams' carries and make both players useless for fantasy purposes. Williams has rushed for 291 yards on 62 carries through three games, but it appears he only has 2-3 more games of fantasy relevance following Carolina's Week 4 bye.

8/28/2013 11:12:00 AM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart, who is recovering from surgery on both ankles, will start the season on the PUP list.
Insight: DeAngelo Williams figures to get the bulk of the workload with Stewart sidelined, though Mike Tolbert will likely steal the goal line opportunities.
