Description: Rex Grossman has agreed to a one-year deal to stay with the Redskins.
Insight: Now that it appears Washington is going all-in for Robert Griffin III, it doesn't look like Grossman will get much playing time in 2012 unless Griffin gets hurt. There's no point in wasting a pick in your fantasy draft on him.

Description: It's official: Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that the Washington Redskins are going back to Rex Grossman as the starting quarterback. It appears that the weekend's big rumor (see below) was spot-on. Looking ahead, we're left to wonder if that's all for John Beck this season, or whether there will be another flip-flop in the city renowned for its flip-floppers.
Insight: Today is actually not a bad game to start him in... so let's hope Shanny isn't pulling our chain.

Description: According to Chris Russell of ESPN 980 Washington, there are "a lot of rumors flying" in D.C. that the Redskins may start Rex Grossman over John Beck in Sunday's game. Source: Chris Russell via Twitter
Insight: Beck and Grossman split first-team reps in practice this week. As of now, there's no clear-cut starter for week 10 and it's all up in the air. At the very least, Beck will be on a short leash.

Description: SHOCKER SPECIAL (Under 10-percent started) Rex Grossman, Was, QB (Noise Week 2 QB Rank: 8, three-percent) Matchup: vs. Ari Whether seen in politics or sports, Washington typically is an unforgiving place where reputations are chewed up, spit out then urinated on. However, for the suddenly sexy Rexy, the nation's capital could be the location of a surprising career rebirth. Coming off a sensational 305-yard, 2-TD performance against the rival Giants, Grossman is poised to not only duplicate, but exceed his opening week stat line. To put it kindly, Arizona is an abomination against the pass. Rookies Patrick Peterson and A.J. Jefferson were humiliated by Carolina last week as Cam Newton threw for 422 yards and two TDs, shattering Peyton Manning's record for most passing yards in a rookie debut. Yes, Grossman will take a bad sack or three. And he will always be a magnet for turnovers. But he made several quality throws last week, delivering several on-the-money passes to Santana Moss, Anthony Armstrong and the very underrated Fred Davis. Considering the issues 'Zona had defending Steve Smith, who is a similarly styled receiver as Moss, it's fathomable Grossman's final Week 2 rank will come close to matching his jersey number. Sound the sax, Rex will most certainly be in effect against the Cards. Fearless Forecast: 24-37, 317 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, 26.9 fantasy points SOURCE: ROTO ARCADE
Insight: Whether seen in politics or sports, Washington typically is an unforgiving place where reputations are chewed up, spit out then urinated on. However, for the suddenly sexy Rexy, the nation's capital could be the location of a surprising career rebirth.

Description: NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Redskins decided over the weekend to start Rex Grossman over John Beck in the season opener. Source: Jason LaCanfora via Twitter
Insight: Grossman will be on a short leash, but he did have a decent 64% completion percentage. If you're relying on Grossman as your QB1, than your draft went completely off course. It could be week to week QB by committee.

Description: Free agent QB Rex Grossman is assuming he will re-sign with the Redskins. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: As of now, John Beck is No. 1 on the depth chart, but that could easily change if Grossman is brought back. The team could bring in a free agent once the lockout is lifted, but it appears the starting job is Beck's to lose for now.

Description: The Bengals could bring in former Redskins QB Rex Grossman to compete with rookie QB Andy Dalton. SOURCE: CINCINNATI ENQUIRER
Insight: The Cincinnati Enquirer calls it a "real possibility," which shows that the Bengals will have one of the worst quarterback groups in the league if/when Carson Palmer doesn't play. If Grossman signs, Dalton could still beat him out for the starting job.
12/21/2010 2:01:00 PM
Description: The Washington Post reports Grossman will continue to be the Redskins' starting QB.
Insight: Grossman gets a fairly favorable matchup in Week 16 against Jacksonville, so fantasy owners may find him to be a usable option. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Kelli Washington of CSN Washington reports Grossman will start over Donovan McNabb on Sunday against Dallas.
Insight: Johnson reports the Redskins' locker room is divided and some players are upset. It is virtually impossible that the the Shanahans think Grossman gives the team a better chance to win. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Pro Football Talk.com reports Grossman could start over Donovan McNabb against Dallas on Sunday.
Insight: There is speculation the Redskins could let McNabb rest his hamstrings, and the two split first-team practice reps last week. (RapidDraft.com)
4/5/2010 10:51:00 AM
Description: SI.com's Peter King reports the Redskins would be "happy" to have Grossman as their backup QB.
Insight: That would mean Jason Campbell would be traded, which would not be a surprising move. (SportsBuff.com)
3/26/2010 11:12:00 AM
Description: NFL.com reports Grossman will be given a chance to compete for the starting job.
Insight: Grossman was with Redskins' offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's system since they were together in Houston last season, so he has the edge over Jason Campbell in that regard right now. (SportsBuff.com)
3/17/2010 10:55:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, via Twitter, that Grossman has signed a one-year deal with the Redskins.
Insight: Grossman could compete with Jason Campbell for the starting job, but it seems more likely he'll be Campbell's backup. (SportsBuff.com)
3/6/2010 12:52:00 PM
Description: Grossman is reportedly being linked to the Redskins.
Insight: If the Redskins idea is to have Grossman play in place of Campbell at times, then I don't know what to tell you. Replacing a quarterback with an even worse one is hardly a logical proposal. (SportsBuff.com)
1/14/2010 9:02:00 AM
Description: Grossman is not expected to return to the Texans next season, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Dan Orlovsky is expected to be the backup to Matt Schaub in 2010. (SportsBuff.com)
12/8/2009 8:13:00 AM
Description: Grossman completed 3-of-9 passes for 33 yards and an interception against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Insight: Grossman replaced an injured Matt Schaub and was not very effective. He will be back on the bench next week against Seattle. (SportsBuff.com)
9/8/2009 2:19:00 PM
Description: According to the Houston Chronicle, Grossman has won the Texans' backup QB job over Dan Orlovsky.
Insight: With the fragile Matt Schaub ahead of him, Grossman could have to play at some point this season. With the talent the Texans have at the skill positions, most notably WR Andre Johnson and RB Steve Slaton, he could have some fantasy value under that circumstance. (SportsBuff.com)
9/5/2009 12:51:00 AM
Description: Grossman went 9-for-16 for 197 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night against Tampa Bay.
Insight: Grossman could overtake Dan Orlovsky as Matt Schaub's backup, and given Schaub's injury history the last couple seasons Grossman could fall into some fantasy value. (SportsBuff.com
8/17/2009 10:08:00 AM
Description: Grossman suffered a pulled hamstring in the team's preseason opener on Saturday, and is expected to miss a month. (Pro Football Talk.com)
Insight: Grossman doesn't seem likely to make the Texans' roster now. (SportsBuff.com)
Cold6/12/2009 3:52:00 PM
Description: ProFootballTalk.com reports that Drew Rosenhaus announced via Twitter that Grossman has passed his physical and signed a one-year deal with Houston.
Insight: Now he'll either compete with Dan Orlovsky for the backup job, take the No. 3 role or serve as a camp arm and be gone by the season. Orlovsky signed a three-year, $9 million deal, so the first option seems less likely. Whatever the case, Grossman should be nowhere near fantasy draft boards in 2009. (SportsBuff.com)
