Insight: Smith says he's feeling better but he still estimates that his left triceps is at least 50 percent torn. The 33-year-old has recorded nine tackles this postseason.

Insight: Smith isn't even close to 100 percent but it's the playoffs, so he's going to give it a go. He isn't a stats guy but he takes up blockers and allows Aldon Smith to get loose. Aldon failed to pick up a sack after Justin was injured in Week 15.

Insight: Smith isn't even close to 100 percent but it's the playoffs, so it looks like he's going to give it a go. You have to admire Smith's guts though it's unclear how effective he'll be. Smith had 66 tackles and three sacks during the regular season.

Insight: Smith's injury was listed as an elbow injury because a bone spur became detached when Smith's triceps tendon partially tore, a team spokeman said. The DE isn't a stat machine but causes havoc on the defensive line and takes up blockers to get his superstar linebackers Patrick Willis, Navorro Bowman and Aldon Smith free. Aldon hasn't had a sack in the last two games after picking up 19.5 in the first 13.
