Description: If the Jets do sign free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha, it could open the door to the Texans pursuing the odd man out in New York, CB Antonio Cromartie. SOURCE: CBS SPORTS
Insight: Cromartie has 18 career interceptions and did play under Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips in his rookie season with the Chargers in 2006.

Description: NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reported Wednesday night that sources have told him that the Jets plan to let free agent DB Antonio Cromartie walk this offseason.
Insight: GM Mike Tannenbaum made it known he didn't care for Cromartie's rants about Tom Brady and his Twitter battle with Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck regarding the CBA when he told Hasselbeck he was "going to smash his face in." Letting Cromartie walk won't be that huge when they have Darrelle Revis, but we are sure the Jets will try to bring in someone rather than rely on guys they already have. Cromartie should easily find work elsewhere if he makes it to the open martket.

Description: Free agent DB Antonio Cromartie called out free agent QB Matt Hasselbeck after Hasselbeck took a shot at Cromartie, but took it down. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Cromartie called the union's leadership "a-holes" earlier in the week, to which Hasselbeck tweeted asking Cromartie if he even knew what the CBA is. Cromartie took a shot back after Hasselbeck, smartly, took the comment down.

Description: Antonio Cromartie has "easily been the most impressive defensive player" in Jets camp, according to beat writer Manish Mehta.
Insight: So much focus gets placed on Darrelle Revis that people sometimes forget how good Cromartie also is. The Jets defensive backfield will be awfully tough to play against this season. (RapidDraft.com)

6/29/2010 10:08:00 PM
Description: According to his agent, Jets CB Antonio Cromartie's recent hip issue is not related to the hip injury that plagued him with the Chargers.
Insight: Maybe not, but the situation does bear watching. If Cromartie is hampered, the Jets don't have a cornerback who can immediately step in and provide the same level of play. (SportsBuff.com)

6/27/2010 8:00:00 PM
Description: Antonio Cromartie missed some reps in minicamp because of a "hip issue."
Insight: Cromartie has had hip issues in the past, so this is a situation worth keeping an eye on. Rookie Kyle Wilson would play in his place, but he's probably not ready to handle the rigors of the pro game yet, so Cromartie's absence would definitely affect the value of the team's defense. (sportsBuff.com)

5/19/2010 12:57:00 PM
Description: Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine raved about new CB Antonio Cromartie.
Insight: Cromartie is probably only holding the place for recent draftee Kyle Wilson, but that doesn't mean that he won;t be an effective IDP player this year. With Darrelle Revis locking down the other side of the field, Cromartie will have plenty of opportunities for interceptions. (SportsBuff.com)

4/1/2010 8:05:00 PM
Description: Cromartie claims he never asked the Jets to pay him a large salary advance so that he could make child support payments.
Insight: Cromartie comes to New York with considerable baggage. The Jets hope his level of play makes people forget about his off the field issues. (SportsBuff.com)

3/6/2010 1:18:00 PM
Description: The Jets acquired Cromartie on Thursday for a 2011 conditional third round pick.
Insight: The Jets needed a cornerback to handle all the action that flows away from Darrelle Revis and believe that they have their man in Cromartie. The ball-hawking 25 year old has 15 interceptions over his last three seasons. (Sportsbuff.com)

3/3/2010 8:26:00 PM
Description: Beat writer Rich Cimini dismissed the rumor that Cromartie could end up on the Jets.
Insight: It would be a nice dream for Jets fans to have him lining up across from Darrelle Revis, bit Cimini said the Chargers are not looking to trade him within the AFC. However, there are several good landing spots in the NFC for him, Detroit in particular. (SportsBuff.com)

2/28/2010 9:38:00 PM
Description: Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune reports, via Twitter, that Cromartie could be traded to the Detroit Lions "soon."
Insight: The Chargers have a need at RB now, but the Lions don't have a good one to offer. That would most likely mean Detroit would send a draft pick to San Diego in any potential deal. (SportsBuff.com)

2/26/2010 10:11:00 AM
Description: According to NFL.com, talks about trading Cromartie have heated up lately now that the NFL Combine has started.
Insight: The Chargers continue to have Cromartie on the trade block as they look for a running back or draft pick in return. (SportsBuff.com)

2/23/2010 11:37:00 AM
Description: Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News calls Cromartie a "good fit" for the Cowboys and thinks the team should trade Tashard Choice for him.
Insight: The Chargers do need to obtain a replacement for LaDainian Tomlinson this offseason, one way or another, and the Cowboys have three capable running backs on their roster. (SportsBuff.com)

2/17/2010 8:59:00 AM
Description: ESPN.com reports that the Chargers could consider trading Cromartie for a running back.
Insight: There are plenty of rumors that have the Chargers looking into acquiring Tashard Choice from the Cowboys. (SportsBuff.com)

10/24/2009 2:00:00 AM
Description: Cromartie is listed as questionable to play against the Chiefs on Sunday due to a bruised knee suffered in practice on Thursday.
Insight: He is still expected to be active but Cromartie's absence could be good news for Dwayne Bowe owners. (SportsBuff.com)

10/23/2009 1:43:00 AM
Description: The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Cromartie suffered a knee injury during practice on Thursday.
Insight: Cromartie had an MRI and the injury has been labeled as a bruise. Stay tuned on whether or not he will be active against the Chiefs on Sunday. (SportsBuff.com)

11/23/2008 10:40:00 AM
Description: NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Antonio Cromartie feels healthy for the first time since the beginning of the season. He has been hampered by an injured hip. Cromartie picked off three Peyton Manning passes when the teams met in San Diego on a Sunday night last season. Don't expect a repeat performance, though. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: CB Antonio Cromartie?s hip is still bothering him, but he was able to practice fully and is probable for today?s game. Now, he just has to start making more plays on the ball. Both of his interceptions came in the Monday night meeting with the Jets. (SportsBuff.com)

Questionable10/25/2008 8:34:00 PM
Description: Cromartie didn't practice Friday because of a hip injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in London.
Insight: If he's able to start, Cromartie makes a pretty good IDP option against the pass-happy Saints. (SportsBuff.com)

9/23/2008 7:54:00 PM
Description: Cromartie produced a team-high nine tackles in the Monday night victory over the Jets and picked off two passes, returning one for a touchdown. Cromartie even dropped another interception that might also have led to a score.
Insight: This kind of game is why he's in your lineup. It's why you can endure the three-tackle outings. It's also why you group a boom-or-bust player with someone such as Rodney Harrison, Lawyer Milloy or Kirk Morrison, who posts more consistent numbers. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)
