Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas missed another practice and is out for the season finale with Carolina.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player who has exceeded 800 yards from scrimmage, but the Saints have plenty of talent in the backfield with Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram.

Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas missed Wednesday practice. The injury was first acknowledged last week, but didn't stop him from playing against Dallas and we expect him to play in Week 17.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player who has exceeded 800 yards from scrimmage in each of his past two seasons but he's too much of a week-to-week mystery to trust him in fantasy leagues, even when healthy.

12/23/2012 5:11:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas reached the end zone for just the second time this season Sunday against Dallas. He finished with 16 rushing yards on seven carries and 61 receiving yards and a score on seven catches.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player who has exceeded 800 yards from scrimmage in each of his past two seasons but he's too much of a week-to-week mystery to trust him in fantasy leagues.

Insight: New Orleans is a pass-first team but we saw a more balanced approach in Week 9 against the Eagles. Chris Ivory, Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas combined for 23 carries, 136 yards (5.9 ypc) and a touchdown in the game. All three are risky flex plays in Week 10 against the Falcons but Thomas is probably the best option. He's the best receiver and comes into Sunday's game with 500 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 100 carries and 33 receptions for 216 yards and two touchdowns in 10 career games against Atlanta.

Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas should be the primary beneficiary with Darren Sproles out for an undetermined amount of time with a broken hand.
Insight: The Saints don't run the ball much, but the attempts should all go to Thomas who is also a better receiver than Mark Ingram or Chris Ivory.

Description: Despite some rumblings to the contrary, two Saints coaches insisted the selection of RB Mark Ingram doesn't mean the team is shopping veteran RB Pierre Thomas. SOURCE: FOX SPORTS
Insight: "We've seen firsthand that you can't have enough (backs)," one of the coaches said. That said, the Saints have a real logjam at tailback with Thomas, Ingram, Chris Ivory, Julius Jones and Lynell Hamilton, also returning from injury. That doesn't even account for Reggie Bush, who sources from both sides still insist has a chance of returning to the club, despite a scheduled $11.8 million payout due in '11. Stay tuned.

Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas' ankle surgery could keep him out of all offseason activities. SOURCE: NEW ORLEANS TIMES-PICAYUNE
Insight: Sean Payton revealed that Thomas' "extensive arthroscopic" surgery could keep him out all the way into the summer, but he could still be ready by training camp. Since the team surprisingly re-signed Thomas to begin with, there doesn't seem to be much concern regarding Thomas' future status.

Description: The Saints and RB Pierre Thomas have agreed to a four-year extension. SOURCE: NEWORLEANS.COM
Insight: The deal is reportedly worth $12 million. We're shocked after Thomas' injury-marred 2010 season. With the signing, the team may decide to go with their stable of running backs from last year and hope they don't get hit with the injury bug. We predict they will also draft a back in April. Thomas is not on solid ground as an RB2.

Description: The Saints have extended a restricted free agent tender to RB Pierre Thomas. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY
Insight: It's believed to be a second-round tender worth $1.8524 million. Thomas is on shaky ground going into the 2011 season after Chris Ivory put up a good showing in his absence last year. The team has shown no real urgency to get a contract extension done so far this winter.

Description: There is still belief that RB Pierre Thomas would be a good fit in New England. SOURCE: ESPN BOSTON
Insight: The Boston Herald reported in January that there was a "possibility" that the Patriots might have interest. Thomas is only 26 and it's not like the Patriots have never taken a chance on a player in the hopes he would bounce back. BenJarvus Green-Ellis really showed a lot in 2010, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Thomas signed in the hopes he can provide some upside.

Description: There is "a possibility" that the Patriots could target free agent RB Pierre Thomas. SOURCE: BOSTON HERALD
Insight: It depends on how much faith the team has in BenJarvus Green-Ellis as the starter. Thomas is good as a runner and receiver, but injuries have dropped his free-agent value. Plus, the Patriots have up-and-comer Danny Woodhead. The Saints could bring Thomas back cheap and have him compete with Chris Ivory.

Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas has been placed on injured reserve with a left ankle injury. SOURCE: WDSU.COM
Insight: Thomas joins Chris Ivory, who was placed on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury. Now the Saints will be going into this weekend's game against the Seahawks with Reggie Bush, Julius Jones and DeShawn Wynn.

1/5/2011 2:01:00 PM
Description: The Biloxi Sun Herald reports Thomas (ankle) is expected to return as the Saints "lead back" against Seattle this week.
Insight: Thomas should be able to play on Saturday against the Seahawks based on this news, but does make for a fairly risky fantasy pick. (RapidDraft.com)

1/2/2011 10:29:00 AM
Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas (ankle) is predicted to be active against the Buccaneers. SOURCE: FOX SPORTS
Insight: We wouldn't use Thomas if he was active with Chris Ivory also expected to have a role after practicing fully all week.

12/28/2010 12:01:00 PM
Description: Thomas had 19 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown along with seven catches for 39 yards on Monday night against the Falcons.
Insight: Thomas looks to be 100% after dealing with an ankle injury for most of the season, and is usable as a RB2 against Tampa Bay in Week 17. (RapidDraft.com)

12/28/2010 12:16:00 AM
Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas took a wicked shoulder to his head after a catch-and-run screen pass in which he broke a few tackles and picked up a first down.
Insight: Thomas was visibly shaken after taking the hit and staggered off the field under his own power. However, he looks to be okay and is apparently set to come back in.

12/13/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: Thomas had 12 carries for 39 yards and four catches for 29 yards against St. Louis on Sunday.
Insight: Thomas led the Saints in carries in the game, and could see an increased role if Chris Ivory (hamstring) has to miss any time. (RapidDraft.com)

12/12/2010 5:02:00 PM
Description: After missing the last nine weeks of action, Saints RB Pierre Thomas is active in Week 14 vs. the Rams and caught the first pass of the day from Drew Brees for 9 yards.
Insight:

12/10/2010 5:04:00 PM
Description: The New Orleans Times Picayune reports Thomas (left ankle) is listed as probable for Sunday against the Rams after practicing fully again on Friday.
Insight: It looks like Thomas will finally be active, but fantasy owners that have hung onto him should keep him on the bench this week. (RapidDraft.com)

12/8/2010 11:02:00 PM
Description: Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports Thomas (ankle) returned to a full practice on Wednesday.
Insight: Thomas should be able to play on Sunday against the Rams as long as he avoids any setbacks. But he is not a reliable fantasy option with Chris Ivory having earned a significant role with his recent play. (RapidDraft.com)
