Description: Ravens tight end Visanthe Shiancoe has been practicing with the first team just a week after signing with the team.
Insight: Ed Dickson will start and be the tight end to have on your roster, but the Ravens have used multiple tight ends over the past seasons and Shiancoe could get a decent portion of the workload.

Description: Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe was released by New England Tuesday.
Insight: Shiancoe only played 59 snaps this season and spent much of the year on injured reserve. New England used its lone designated to return tag on the veteran. His release could be a sign that Rob Gronkowski (arm) is getting closer to a comeback, though Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe shot that down since Shiancoe and Gronkowski don't play the same position (Patriots utilize two different types of tight ends).

Description: Minnesota Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and will not play in the third preseason game this Saturday (Aug. 27).
Insight: Shiancoe was already losing some value with the addition of Kyle Rudolph. Rudolph can make a case for increased playing time (and perhaps even the starting gig) if he performs well in Shiancoe's absence. An absence, by the way, which looks like it may be longer than first expected.

Description: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Shiancoe is "very excited" about his potential role in Vikings' offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave's offense.
Insight: The uncertainty Minnesota has at QB hurts Shiancoe's fantasy potential right now. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe is "very excited" about his potential role in newly-hired OC Bill Musgrave's scheme. SOURCE: MINNEAPOLIS STAR-TRIBUNE
Insight: Shiancoe is excited because of how Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez was used when Musgrave was an assistant, but it's hardly a reason for fantasy owners to get excited. Gonzo is heads above Shiancoe in overall talent. Plus, there is no Matt Ryan throwing the ball. Don't expect Shiancoe to be anything more than a mediocre TE2 in what figures to be a very run-oriented offense.

12/21/2010 12:05:00 AM
Description: Shiancoe had six catches for 41 yards against Chicago on Monday night.
Insight: This qualifies as one of Shiancoe's best games of the season, which tells you what kind of 2010 he has had. (RapidDraft.com)

12/14/2010 11:00:00 AM
Description: Shiancoe had just one catch for seven yards against the Giants on Monday night.
Insight: Shiancoe's only catch came from rookie QB Joe Webb late in the fourth quarter. The Vikings' QB situation hurts his fantasy prospects greatly. (RapidDraft.com)

11/29/2010 11:00:00 AM
Description: Shiancoe had three catches for a team-leading 54 yards against Washington on Sunday.
Insight: Shiancoe has had a disappointing 2010, but is still a borderline starting option in most leagues. (RapidDraft.com)

11/8/2010 11:03:00 AM
Description: Shiancoe had four receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Insight: Shiancoe should see more targets with Randy Moss gone, and stands to be a solid fantasy option going forward. (RapidDraft.com)

11/1/2010 12:03:00 PM
Description: Shiancoe had four receptions for 38 yards on Sunday against New England.
Insight: Shiancoe remains a solid, but not elite fantasy option at this point. (RapidDraft.com)

10/25/2010 4:02:00 PM
Description: Shiancoe had three catches for 30 yards against the Packers on Sunday night.
Insight: Shiancoe had what seemed to be a touchdown catch overturned in the game, but this is a step forward after being held without a catch in Week 6. (RapidDraft.com)

10/22/2010 12:04:00 PM
Description: The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Vikings' offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has made it a priority to get Shiancoe more involved in the offense this week.
Insight: Shiancoe has been dealing with a hamstring issue recently, but he was not even targeted in Week 6 against Dallas. He is nothing more than a TE2 right now. (RapidDraft.com)

10/12/2010 10:01:00 AM
Description: Shiancoe (right hamstring) had two receptions for 28 yards against the Jets on Monday night.
Insight: Shiancoe saw less action (seven targets) with Randy Moss around, but his hamstring may also have had something to do with his lack of production. He is still worth owning in fantasy leagues. (RapidDraft.com)

10/7/2010 8:00:00 PM
Description: 1500 ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero reports, via Twitter, that Shiancoe (right hamstring) returned to a limited practice on Thursday.
Insight: Shiancoe seems to be on track to play on Monday night against the Jets. (RapidDraft.com)

10/4/2010 3:03:00 PM
Description: Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press predicts Shiancoe (right hamstring) will play next Monday night against the Jets.
Insight: Shiancoe is the Vikings' leading receiver through three games, so if were to be unable to play the team's passing game could continue to struggle. (RapidDraft.com)

9/27/2010 9:05:00 AM
Description: Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Shiancoe (right hamstring) suffered a hamstring on Sunday against the Lions.
Insight: The Vikings have a bye in Week 4, so Shiancoe can hopefully get healthy and be ready to go for Week 5 against the Jets. (RapidDraft.com)

9/26/2010 2:57:00 PM
Description: Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe injured his leg against the Lions.
Insight: Shiancoe is currently on the sidelines getting worked on by trainers. Update: Shiancoe was able to return.

9/20/2010 12:03:00 PM
Description: Shiancoe had six catches for 86 yards against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Insight: Shiancoe continues to be a primary target for Brett Favre, and is basically an every week fantasy starter at this point. (RapidDraft.com)

9/10/2010 7:32:00 AM
Description: Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe had a huge night against the Saints, catching four passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. SOURCE: NFL.COM
Insight: Most of that came in the first half, but it's still a solid outing if you ended up starting Shiancoe last night. We had thought Bernard Berrian and Percy Harvin would benefit from Sidney Rice being out, but Shiancoe could reap the benefits. He is a TE1 in Week Two.

9/10/2010 1:03:00 AM
Description: Shiancoe had four receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown against the Saints on Thursday night.
Insight: Shiancoe was the Vikings' leading receiver in the game, and stands to see a lot of targets with WR Sidney Rice (hip) out. (RapidDraft.com)
