Description: McKinnie left Thursday night's game against the Saints early in the fourth quarter with a dislocated finger on his right hand.
Insight: McKinnie was carted off the field, which seems excessive for a finger injury. He is expected to play in Week 2 against Miami. (

Description: According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Vikings' owner Zygi Wilff admits disappointment in McKinnie's behavior at the Pro Bowl, but the team will not trade him.
Insight: As you may recall, McKinnie was sent home from the Pro Bowl for skipping practices, then later claimed he was injured (which turned out to be true). (

Description: McKinnie himself reported, via Twitter, that he has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in both feet.
Insight: It's uncertain if McKinnie will need surgery or not. In any case, it appears his excuse for skipping Pro Bowl practices was a legitimate injury. (

Description: Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, via Twitter, that McKinnie will forfiet his $22,500 game check to the NFL for being kicked off the NFC Pro Bowl roster.
Insight: McKinnie also must pay nearly $4,300 dollars in Pro Bowl expenses. If he was injured, as he claimed. he probably should have just backed out of the game and allowed someone who would appreciate the honor to take his place. (

Description: According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, McKinnie said he stopped going to Pro Bowl practices after his "body started feeling a certain way" after getting a cortisone shot in his foot.
Insight: This does not explain the late-night activities McKinnie chronicled on Twitter, to which McKinnie reportedly said "It's all all right." The league is likely to fine him this week for the Pro Bowl week absences that led to him being sent home. (

Description: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports the NFL is looking into McKinnie's dismissal from the Pro Bowl, but a suspension is not expected.
Insight: McKinnie was reportedly sent home due to missing multiple practices, but he later said he was injured. He is likely to be fined by the league at some point. (
12/21/2009 12:12:00 PM
Description: McKinnie was benched during the Vikings' loss to Carolina on Sunday night, in favor of Artis Hicks.
Insight: McKinnie struggled all night handling Panthers' DE Julius Peppers, so this benching seems purely performance related. It is not known if he is injured, but that was not cited as a reason for his benching. (

Description: Bryant McKinnie returns to the Viking starting line-up following a 4 game suspension. Pending his conditioning, McKinnie is expected to start this Sunday's game at New Orleans.
Insight: The Addition of "Mount" McKinnie to the Viking offensive line can only help the numbers for runningback Adrian Peterson. McKinnie will also help protect Gus Frerotte, who would rather not "Remember the Titans". (
