Description: The Rams believe Isaiah Pead tore his ACL during Saturday's preseason game, coach Jeff Fisher said. SOURCE: Mike Garafolo, FOX Sports
Insight: Pead, the 50th overall pick in the 2012 draft, has rushed for 75 yards on 17 carries in 25 NFL games. He would have been behind Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason on the depth chart if healthy.

Description: St. Louis halfback Isaiah Pead won't play Thursday against the 49ers.
Insight: He appears to be a healthy scratch. Pead hasn't done much this season, contributing just 21 yards on seven rushes. Daryl Richardson and Benny Cunningham will handle the rushing load in Pead's absence.

Description: Rams running back Isaiah Pead rushed for just 20 yards in relief of an injured Daryl Richardson, but did prove to be a decent receiver with seven catches for 43 yards.
Insight: The Rams fell way behind and didn't really get to establish a running game, but Richardson figures to be the starter when healthy. Pead could get some looks on third down.

Description: Rams running back Isaiah Pead will return from a one-game suspension to be part of the St. Louis offense in Week 2 versus Atlanta.
Insight: Daryl Richardson is the starter and carried the ball 20 times in Week 1 for a less-than-stellar 63 yards (3.2 ypc). At this point, however, Pead is nothing more than a handcuff.

Description: While Rams running back Isaiah Pead had 18 yards on three carries with a long run of 11 yards in the preseason opener, he also didn't help himself by losing a fumble.
Insight: Daryl Richardson ran for 24 yards on four carries. A day after Jeff Fisher said he expects Richardson to be the starter, he added that he hasn't "ruled anybody out" of the competition, but Richardson remains firmly ahead of Pead. Not helping matters is that Pead will open the season with a one-game suspension for a substance abuse violation.

Description: Rams coach Jeff Fisher said he's pleased with how running back Isaiah Pead has handled being suspended for a substance abuse violation, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Insight: "He obviously has to suffer the consequences and miss the game," Fisher said. "But I'm pleased with how he's bounced back and his professional approach to being a member of this team." According to Ian Rapoport of, the Rams have known about Pead's violation for months and still have high expectations for him. Pead will compete with Daryl Richardson and rookie Zac Stacy for the starting running back job, and it doesn't seem like his violation will hurt his chances of winning it.

Description: St. Louis halfback Isaiah Pead has been suspended one game for violating the league's substance abuse policy, according to Ian Rapoport from
Insight: Pead is in a three-way battle for the starting tailback spot with Daryl Richardson and rookie Zac Stacy. This can't help his cause.
11/1/2012 10:00:00 PM
Description: After Rams rookie running back Isaiah Pead received three "garbage time" carries and gained 32 yards Sunday against the Patriots, coach Jeff Fisher said the team will try to find ways to get the ball in his hands going forward, according to the Rams' official website.
Insight: We don't expect Pead to get enough carries to be relevant in fantasy leagues but he could cut into fellow rookie Daryl Richardson's value. Richardson already took a hit Thursday when Steven Jackson wasn't traded at the deadline.
9/17/2012 10:22:00 AM
Description: With starting running back Steven Jackson coming up lame in the second quarter, it was Daryl Richardson who filled in, not second-round selection Isaiah Pead.
Insight: Richardson is clearly the handcuff for Jackson and Pead's fantasy value is currently at a non-existent level.
