Description: Cardinals beat writer Kent Somers is reporting that new coach Bruce Arians wants to name his starting quarterback early in the preseason. This bodes well for the newly signed Drew Stanton since he alredy knows Arians' offense.
Insight: Since the choices are Stanton, John Skelton or a rookie, we like the odds for Stanton as the Cardinals' opening day starter.

3/13/2013 9:09:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals signed QB Drew Stanton to a three-year contract Wednesday.
Insight: Given Arizona's quarterback woes, Stanton could end up being the starter when the 2013 season kicks off.

3/23/2012 5:44:00 PM
Description: Drew Stanton got his wish. Friday, the Jets traded Stanton to the Indianapolis Colts.
Insight: It looks like Andrew Luck has found his new backup quarterback. If Luck gets injured, Stanton will probably be next in line for the Colts QB job.

3/22/2012 4:34:00 PM
Description: Now that Tim Tebow is in town, backup quarterback Drew Stanton wants out of New York.
Insight: Stanton's best years came with the Lions, which is never a good sign. Stanton's career-high for touchdowns in a season is four. Tom Brady had six in one half a couple months ago. Wherever he ends up, Stanton won't be fantasy material in 2012.

Description: Lions GM Martin Mayhew is interested in re-signing impending free agent QB Drew Stanton. SOURCE: MLIVE.COM
Insight: Stanton made great strides in 2010 after it was reported awhile back that, now, Bears OC Mike Martz ruined his throwing style. Stanton had to start three games because of injuries last year, winning two, so his re-signing would give the Lions one of the best quarterback stables in the league with Stanton, Shaun Hill and Matthew Stafford.

Description: There is belief that QB Drew Stanton is likely done as a Lion. SOURCE: DETROIT NEWS
Insight: Stanton played well as an emergency option when Matthew Stafford and Shaun Hill were out with injuries this year. This should give him a chance at landing a backup job somewhere else, something he wouldn't get in Detroit.

Description: Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports Stanton (left shoulder) took first-team reps ahead of Shaun Hill (finger) at Thursday's practice.
Insight: Hill did take some first-team reps, and he should get the starting nod if he's healthy enough. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Lions gave QB Drew Stanton (shoulder) first-team reps ahead of QB Shaun Hill (finger) in Thursday's practice. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Hill also had his turn and was ahead of Stanton Wednesday. Hill still has a chance to start, but he is an iffy option. We'd avoid this situation entirely.

12/22/2010 11:44:00 AM
Description: It was confirmed that Lions QB Drew Stanton does have a Grade 3 separation of the AC joint in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. SOURCE: DETROIT NEWS
Insight: Jim Schwartz made the confirmation, but said Stanton could still play against the Dolphins. Shaun Hill (broken finger) suited up as Stanton's backup against the Buccaneers and has a better chance at starting, but he isn't a trustworthy fantasy option.

Description: Lions QB Drew Stanton has reportedly suffered a Grade 3 separation of his left (non-throwing) shoulder against the Buccaneers. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Stanton might be able to play against the Dolphins if he can tolerate the pain, but he isn't a recommended fantasy option. Shaun Hill (broken finger) still has the chance at starting as well, but we also don't recommend him.

12/20/2010 6:05:00 PM
Description: Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News reports Stanton (left shoulder) has a Grade 3 separation of his left shoulder.
Insight: Since the injury is not to his throwing shoulder, Stanton could theoretically play through it as he will not require surgery. Shaun Hill (finger) may start against Miami on Sunday anyway, as long as he's healthy enough to play. (RapidDraft.com)

12/20/2010 3:00:00 PM
Description: The Detroit News reports Lions' head coach Jim Schwarts would not commit to Stanton as his Week 16 starter following Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.
Insight: Stanton has led the Lions to two straight wins, but if Shaun Hill (finger) is healthy enough he may start next Sunday against Miami. (RapidDraft.com)

12/19/2010 3:11:00 PM
Description: Lions QB Drew Stanton injured his non-throwing hand in the 2nd quarter on a third down play.
Insight: He's currently being looked at on the sidelines and the Lions probably won't have another possession in the first half, so he'll get extra attention in the locker room. Shaun Hill and Zach Robinson are his backups today in case Stanton can't return.

12/17/2010 3:02:00 PM
Description: Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports Stanton is expected to start this week against the Buccaneers.
Insight: Shaun Hill (finger) is not quite ready to go, so Stanton will get one more start. (RapidDraft.com)

12/16/2010 4:05:00 PM
Description: The Detroit News reports Stanton worked with the Lions' first team offense again on Thursday.
Insight: It is possible Shaun Hill (finger) may be able to play this Sunday against Tampa Bay, but an official decision on the Lions' starting QB may not be made until Friday at the earliest. (RapidDraft.com)

12/13/2010 10:02:00 AM
Description: Stanton went 10-for-22 for 117 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions with four carries for 44 yards against the Packers on Sunday.
Insight: Stanton could wind up starting under center for the Lions for the rest of the season for better or worse, but do keep in mind the Green Bay defense is very good. (RapidDraft.com)

12/6/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: Stanton went 16-for-24 for 178 yards and a touchdown along with five carries for 12 yards and a touchdown against the Bears on Sunday.
Insight: Stanton performed admirably against a tough Chicago defense, and things won't get a lot easier next week against Green Bay. (RapidDraft.com)

12/1/2010 2:05:00 PM
Description: Tom Kowalski of MLive.com reports Lions' head coach Jim Schwartz confirmed that Stanton will start in Week 13 against Chicago.
Insight: Stanton is not a fantasy option against a Bears' defense that has allowed the second-fewest passing touchdowns in the league. Fantasy owners can downgrade WR Calvin Johnson and TE Brandon Pettigrew. (RapidDraft.com)

11/10/2010 11:16:00 AM
Description: Aside from preparing himself to play as if he is starting Week Ten, Lions players are also talking as if QB Drew Stanton will start against the Bills. SOURCE: DETROIT FREE PRESS
Insight: Of Stanton, Calvin Johnson said "he's going to go out there and get the job done, whether it might be pretty or ugly. We're going to stand by him and he's going to stand by us." Shaun Hill (forearm) is trying his best to prepare himself, but it sounds like the team and players are preparing for Stanton to start. Stanton wasn't bad against the Giants a couple weeks ago, but we'd be hard pressed to recommend him as anything more than a flex option.

Description: Lions QB Drew Stanton is preparing as if he will start against the Bills. SOURCE: DETROIT FREE PRESS
Insight: Nothing has been officially announced regarding Matthew Stafford's shoulder, but he won't play regardless. Shaun Hill is pushing himself to play, but Stanton appears to be the early favorite to start. He is not a recommended fantasy option.
