Description: Broncos running back Montee Ball should be the primary ballcarrier for Denver in 2014.
Insight: Knowshon Moreno agreed with Miami to a one-year deal. Ball ran for 4.7 yards per carry on 120 attempts and finished with 559 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He'll be a high-end RB2/low-end RB1 in 2014 because the Broncos' passing game is so potent that it leaves gaps in the opposition run defense.

Description: According to the Denver Post, the Broncos believe it's time to take the training wheels off their young running backs, Montee Ball and C.J. Anderson.
Insight: Knowshon Moreno is a free agent and will likely be let go after picking up 1,500+ yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in 2013. Ball ran for 4.7 yards per carry on 120 attempts and finished with 559 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He'll be a high-end RB2/low-end RB1 in 2014.

Description: Denver rookie running back Montee Ball should eventually take control of the Broncos' backfield, but fantasy owners may have to stay away from him early on.
Insight: Ronnie Hillman is listed as the starter and Knowshon Moreno is the best pass blocker of the group, so until the team feels the rookie can pick up the blitz and keep Peyton Manning safe and upright he likely won't be a top fantasy value.

Description: According to the Denver Post, Peyton Manning said that Broncos rookie running back Montee Ball "is going to play a lot" this season.
Insight: Ball and Ronnie Hillman have both worked with the first-team offense this week but both have their issues -- Ball with pass protection and Hillman with fumbling. Knowshon Moreno is also in the mix as a third-down back. Ball likely will lead the committee, but he's not going to be the lone back right off the bat.

Description: Even though Montee Ball was working with Denver's starters Monday, Broncos OC Adam Gase said the team will use a running back committee and stated that they have "never shied away from that." SOURCE: Jeff Legwold, ESPN.com
Insight: Ronnie Hillman started training camp as the starter but fumbled three times this preseason. The Broncos likely will give Ball every chance to lead the committee, and Knowshon Moreno could end getting more snaps than Hillman as the third-down back, but none of the three will make for a good RB2 early this season.

Description: Denver rookie running Montee Ball was working with Peyton Manning and the first team on Monday, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.
Insight: Ball has always been expected to win the starting role and push Ronnie Hillman into a third-down receiving role. We just didn't know it could happen as early as Week 1 since coach John Fox has never been quick to trust rookies.

Description: Neither of Denver's running backs stood out Thursday in the preseason opener against San Francisco.
Insight: Rookie Montee Ball rushed for nine yards on five carries, and Ronnie Hillman had nine on three attempts. The battle will wage on for the rest of the preseason.

Description: According to the Denver Post, Broncos coach John Fox basically called the team's first running back depth chart meaningless. "Again, it’s going to be based on performance," Fox said. "We’ve got four preseason games to take a look at them. We have a depth chart. We released a depth chart only because the league makes us, but as it sorts out they’ll define where they fit on the depth chart."
Insight: Rookie Montee Ball is currently behind Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. Hillman had trouble getting playing time as a rookie due to pass blocking issues and Ball could have the same problem this year if he can't pick up the protection schemes.

Description: Denver rookie running back Montee Ball is listed as the backup to Ronnie Hillman on the team's first depth chart, but he's been getting plenty of reps with the starters.
Insight: Broncos head coach John Fox has never been one to play rookies, but we believe in the end that Ball will win the job and Hillman will be the third-down change of pace/receiving option.

Description: Denver Broncos executive vice president John Elway said Wisconsin running back Montee Ball has a chance to start in his rookie season.
Insight: Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno will be trying to return from knee injuries and apparently Ronnie Hillman isn't thought of as an every-down back.
